'We'll be good on set pieces this year, they're really important'. Yeah, right Gary.

'We've got a lot of goals in us, we'll be a massive threat'. Yeah, right Gary.

'I'll deliver a side built on pace and power'. Yeah, right Gary.

Best performance of the season by far imo, they got lucky until near the end when their antics caught up with them. What relief. Ismail looked very tricky, play Cooke over Devine from the start next week please!

Ismail coming on changed the game. First we were abysmal, as were a pathetic Northmapton. Second half was better but in truth couldn’t have been any worse, the tempo of the game was non existant. Looked better set when the inneffective Devine was subbed for Cooke, who sat far better. In all a great result and a great last 20 minutes, can pretty much forget the first 70 minutes.

Both the save and tackle were game savers.

Cooke was far better than Devine. Got to start. Thought Connolly looked decent. Ishmael changed the game and looked delighted with his assist for the goal. Shame it wasn't a straight red and we could appeal. Woukd have been great to start him at Walsall.

As others have said that was more like the city we know In they second half, crosses, shots galore. The game changed once we subbed the woeful Devine. The lad is nowhere near good enough and never has been imo

BRE an absolute beast and MOTM by a street

Whilst it was all city we still had to rely on OD for a brilliant save yet again

Anybody know Goode’s number asking for a friend :)

I posted the other day that I'd have more time for Bowyers early season approach if he came out and admitted tinkering just to get a sense of what might work but that he was now ready to keep a more settled approach- and the he came out in the press and said it, so fair play!!

In fairness, during august we didn't exactly have flying wingers. We only had Scannell and he looked like he'd lost a yard. Now we have Ismail, Pritchard and Donnelly, genuine pace and width.

Keith Curle is as bad as Parky for a one eyed view of proceedings. How about their entire team time wasting from the word go. How the keeper wasn’t booked? It was a concerted effort by multiple players to delay play. Which was his game plan. At least their time wasting bit themselves by the end. You got what’s you deserved. Jack.

Im surprised that we havent talked about Donaldson's work rate .
I agree BRE was top class and improving but I thought Clayton was an inspiration especially in the first half when we needed something to happen.
He was still going strong stretching the oppo and keeping them busy.
Amazing stamina and workrate from a player who really cares.
I thought there were a lot of good things to take out of that performance.

Also the best thing about today was how gutted their number 5 looked at the end.

He was a first class prick!

Agree that one JM. Loved how the goalie used every minute up he could throughout the game until the last 5 mins when he ran around like he had a red hot poker up his rectum.

Shame but not unexpected. Imo neither player should have even been carded. A contact sport played at high adrenaline and the ref starts dishing out cards for a bit of argy-bargy meanwhile letting them waste time all day and kill the game as a spectacle for the paying public, games gone.

Also I’ve just heard Vaughan has been sentenced to a 10 stretch in Armley for his role in the incident.

I actually thought today was the best I have seen us play this season. For the first half the tempo was slow but we put some decent crosses in, Northampton scored with their only chance. The second half our tempo was much better and we played football the way it is supposed to be played at VP, ramping up the pressure in the second half whilst we are shooting towards the Kop and getting the ball out wide. I thought we deserved our win today, I'm fed up of teams coming to VP and parking the bus with spoiling tactics.

First half was pretty awful from both sides, no quality whatsoever.

Second half though was much better and needs to be the minimum we expect now. I have to say though Keith Curle fecked it himself with his subs, they put them under more pressure.

Back four were generally solid, BRE won everything again although I think it was his man for the goal we conceded. What a challenge that was from wood at the end too, as good as a goal.

Midfield was useless until devine went off. Cooke was much better and we got some control in there finally. Surely he starts next week?

Saw glimpses from Connolly, particularly in the 2nd half, that he'll be a good addition. Ismail was great when he came on and was wrongly sent off. Pritchard is a different type of winger to those two, not blessed with the most pace or tricks but delivers a good ball and gives us some balance.

Front two didn't have their best games, too many long balls into them although even their presence in the box causes so much panic when the ball is out wide. And they got feck all off another diabolical ref.

Much improved today (finally), still need to be better.

A slip is a slip, not really what I'd call bad defending. I think he need a proper run at left back to learn the role. I think hes ok defensively and will improve with experience.

He puts great deliveries in but I'd like to see him make more overlapping runs. Again, I think it's just an experience and decision making thing, but hes an example of a player who you can see getting better through games, as opposed to Anderson and Devine who'll never be better than what they are now.

Centre Midfield still a massive issue.

Sad to say Devine is never going to be good enough.

Palmer never really noticed him apart from his constant dreadful set pieces...least he didnt take as many today.

in the end we deserved the win for the second half performance, and last 20 minutes or so in particular.
Ismail changed the game when he came on, and suspension not withstanding he's got to be close to starting.

my favourite goalkeeper O'Donnell made a couple of terrific saves. and that tackle from Connor Wood, blimey. that's a goal saver.

first half though was shocking. as poor as I've seen from us for some time. we've got to start quicker, and play with a higher tempo.

as for the time wasting... I don't get overly angry about it when the opposition do it, becauser I know full well I'd be wanting us to do exactly that if we were ahead.
