As soon as anyone drops in 'i work in football' it just makes me laugh. We're on here to debate and agree/disagree, not to belittle people.

This would be just about forgiveable had Derbyshire's goal given us the lead in the tiebut to offer them the prospect of penalties at worst and the chance to attack with impunity and no risk of conceding was utterly pathetic. This one is on him.

Our season has been hugely influenced by an anomaly in terms of a striker who hit a freak purple patch and a goalkeeper who won us around 20-30 points across the piece.

Absolutely predictable and symptomatic of the guy. Don't like him!

You must be really hurting @Sliverbantam you've posted some right crap this morning, the Cook comment taking the biscuit, have a look at Cooks career and there haven't been many seasons where he's not produced the goods, even during his time with us he's managed to be our leading goal scorer every season.

Surely he was anticipating the ball sailing over everyone and went towards the back stick following the line of the ball ready to collect. I think it's harsh to blame Lewis for that. If he'd stayed put he probably feared that the ball would sail into the far post. It'd a scenario that happens so often.

At last , common sense. I said over the last few hours….We didn’t lose promotion over two legs playing Carlisle, we lost promotion because we couldn’t beat far lesser teams over the season that our challengers HAVE beaten.
Remember, we beat Stevenage twice, Salford twice, Northampton once. Our fault for not beating Crewe, Swindon, Rochdale, Hartlepool, Colchester away…..I could go on , but people’s are avoiding the main reason at the expense of our display yesterday. We SHOULD NOT have needed the play offs.

That comment is worse than the actual substitution, the change was made in the 108th minute of a 120 minute game are we to take it Hughes actually thought Banks was flagging 4 minutes after setting up the equalizer, the lad must have been on cloud 9 knowing he was a big part of getting us back into the game, I'm sure if we had got through Banks would have been one of the first names on the team sheet a week later at Wembley, give over Mark you took the risk of playing an extra defender hoping to get to a penalty shoot out nothing to do with Banks tiredness.

Yes i can only put it down to a massive heads gone moment as there is no other logical reason for it. The daft thing is I really would not have fancied our chances in a shoot out. Their keeper is a huge unit and other than Cook and perhaps Derbyshire I'm not sure i'd have had confidence in anyone else holding their nerve!

I have to say it was one of the strangest decisions I have witnessed at Brunton Park. A guy behind me said 'We can all sigh a breath of relief now he's gone off, he must be injured, no daft bugger would take him off after creating havoc for our defence"

Behave! His positioning was truly dreadful. He basically left an open goal. Had he been where he was supposed to be it goes straight to him.
He wasn’t even that far off his line, he was just randomly far too wide of his goal. The defending wasn’t great but the goalkeeping was abysmal. To suggest he thought the ball might sail in is ridiculous. It’s their job to read to a cross and he got it completely wrong yesterday.

Speaking a fellow forum member on here about yesterday and our season over all, and we looked at the appointments at Orient, Carlisle Stevenage and Bradford City, Orient were run away leaders and deservedly Champions, Stevenage 2nd securing an auto promotion, Carlisle 5th and a Wembley final to look forward to, Bradford City 6th beaten in the semi final play offs.
So delving a little deeper we see Richie Wellens took charge of Orient on On 9 March 2022, when Orient were sitting in 20th position.
Steve Evans took charge of Stevenage On 6 March 2022, when Stevenage were sitting in 22nd position 5 points above the drop zone.
Paul Simpson took charge of Carlisle On 23 February 2022 when Carlisle were sitting in 23rd position, also in danger of going out of League Two.
John Brady doesnt come into the equation as he's had since he was in temporary charge when Keith Curle was sacked then put in charge On 4 March until the end of the season. so he's had a head start on the others, although after getting beat by Mansfield in the semi final he's kept the momentum going and got an auto 3rd place.
Mark Hughes took charge of Bradford City On 24 February 2022 when Bradford City were sitting comfortably in 13th position in the table.
With the backing Mark Hughes has had this season he has performed the worst of the above three is that because he's new to league two football as all the above have had previous experience in the kahzi league, one thing for sure he has to get us a promotion next season as a minimum requirement IMO.

Even though I knew all those facts, reading your post just reiterates how poor Hughes has performed.
Still hurting too much after yesterday, don't have any interest in next season whatever.

Costelloe was a strange one. He'd played in the Championship at the start of the season.
It looked a great signing on paper but clearly didn't work out.
