Been there, it's in Dresden originally built to make the ill fated Phaeton
THe bodies are made about 100 ks away but assembled in Dresden. No trucks are allowed in the city so they have to move everything on the tram system

Interesting that VW was owned by the UK after the war and produced vehicles for the British army by the thousand but then given away to German owners as we already had a car industry and decided we did not need another, Another good decision

Their logistics is amazing . The trains to Emden docks!!?
I didn’t realise it took 48 hours to build my car and 24 hours was letting the paint bake on.

Amazing and absolute pennies to run. Roughly 120 miles cost me £2.20 in leccy and goes like a rocket for a family car.

Aye, remember the days you had to buy your own and plug it into an ariel that bracketed over the drivers wind up and down window. Forget and wind the window down and woosh…new ariel dearest!

OH has one of these. As you say a huge boot, we can fit everything needed at the allotment in it. It has done tremendous service in transporting my Mum's house contents from Essex up to Yorkshire. The other week we managed to bring home a chest of drawers, a G Plan bookcase, a 160 cm cantilever desk, an office pedestal, several boxes of china and glass, an uplighter, a large and heavy coffee table and a sun lounger in one trip.
It has all the bells and whistles, but we have had issues with the electrics though, with lots of faults on the reversing cameras and clock and so on. Also Hyundai are a bit odd about parts. You can only get parts from them at expensive prices as they won't give part numbers out.

Finally, the driving position is shocking for me. I drive it if I have to, but to get the seat close enough for me to reach the pedals my knee is banging against the dashboard.

About to swap for an Octavia, which I have no issues with seating wise and also has a cavernous boot, although perhaps not as Tardis like as the i40. We have had an Octavia before and it was a really reliable old workhorse. It had done over 170k mileage when we sold it for £500 to someone from the Czech Republic who was going to drive it "home".

I love my Octavia. You could house a family of four in the boot.
