Had Escorts and Sierras for a good few years and then about 20 years ago discovered Suzuki Vitaras, real workhorses (which I needed at the time) and super reliable in snow, did everything I asked of it and that's where I am today, not looking forward to the green revolution coming up at all though...

 

I looked around for a new car and over the years have had most popular brands ( Ford Vauxhall VW Suzuki Audi BMW and a Merc but this time took a test drive and good look at a Dacia Stepway and was astounded at the technology and driving experience The build quality is excellent with great MPG, At around £12k brand new apart from the bias against the name I cannot understand why anyone would pay more, ( Love the reversing camera and front and rear sensors and colour screen with built in Sat Nav and hands free phone built in via Bluetooth and great Air Con plus hill start assist, The new one has Autonomous emergency breaking, keyless ignition, Multi view cameras with blind spot monitoring and electronic hand break with a 8 inch colour screen with no increase in price

 

Agree, but I can’t take it with me......new car arrived in Grimsby last Monday... collect in less than two weeks. I have gone quite revolutionary for an old twonk!!

 

And no body is going to car jack you .

Who'd drive a car like this ? it could do with a trip to Fordys place, 58 miles on the clock since March 2020 lockdown.

 

Wife had a Suzuki years ago and loved it a lot...me ......hated it!

 

The Jimny and the across are basic but top Vitara has all I need...

 

Honda for me all day long. Had my first CRV for 12 years which did 177K miles without any problems at all. Didn't even have to replace the battery, plugs or exhaust. Now on my second one which I've had for 3 years. My first one is still on the road.

 

Had a Honda Legend that was superb and also a Nissan Maxima which was underrated but again superb, Funny to think that the premium gadgets on these cars now come as standard on a £12k car

 

Two weeks to get from Grimsby?

Yet happily endorse a company that produced the Pinto “the barbecue that seats four.”

 

I'm sorry but I don't understand this at all.

 

Ford produced the Pinto in the US with a serious design fault which caused the car to catch fire if hit from behind. They did a cost benefit and decided that it was cheaper to pay compensation for deaths through burning than modify the cars.

 

Well I certainly wasn't endorsing that. I was only speaking of my experience in a different country at a different time. Funnily enough, a friend of mine designed fuel tanks for Ford, the chief requirement being that they would never ignite in any circumstances.

 

I've got an Hyundai 1 40 Blue estate , brilliant car . Probably the last i'll own . Never any problems and economical

 

He , he Transporter logistic to dealer 7 days. I asked for collection AFTER the 12th when showrooms can reopen.

 

Some of the shit mentioned on here couldn’t make it from Grimsby to Bradford.

 

My car , practical and economical . And i can get all my fishing gear in .
