I see your point but then what would've been the point in signing a left back of the same standard as Chicksen who also wouldn't have played? I suppose it goes back to us fans not knowing what was available to the club but I don't blame Hopkin in this case for taking a chance on Woods knowing the quality he brings. The fact is when you are down at the bottom, you are forced in to taking the odd gamble.

Either way, the update hardly suggested that Woods would be out for the season so he still might play an important part and hopefully he does. But we shall see.

 

If you sign injury prone players the odds are they will get injured and not recover well. We are signing them because nobody else wants them,we have no money and we're desperate.

 

Yes, I get that. I'm not sure a left back was what we needed anyway with having 2 already at the club.

Another waste of a wage/shirt is Anderson. Another player who has had injury problems and he still only sits on the bench. May aswell have someone like Patrick on the bench. Him and Devine are not going to play so there's little point, apart from satisfying FA rules, them being involved.

 

If you have a (relegation) problem... if no one else can help... and if you can find them... maybe you can hire... The B-Team.

Anderson is and was always going to be cover only. He’s not a waste of a wage if he is there to fill in whenever needed.

We lost Henry and O’Brien from midfield and signed no one until Anderson came in.

Is Patrick going to fill in in Center midfield should we get injuries?

Devine hasn’t been able to get in a bad side over the last 18 months. Why would you want him playing in a struggling relegation side where every point is vital?

Anderson has made over 50 appearances and is just one year older than Devine who has made less than 10. He is more reliable than Devine surely?

Clarke will be used to replace Payne when he tires or if he gets injured.

It was clear from the window we couldn’t get enough players in to change shape so we got Clarke to keep same formation and have some genuine cover there

Colville and Devine have zero experience.

 

I think a lot of ppl are overestimating our ability to attract players, given the mess we are in. Plus our caution on length of contract given the amount of players we have that are not playing. They will to other clubs in a better position.

We needed players that could play, we have players that can cover (if needed) and we have players that are never going to play. Bringing in 2 more cover players (Anderson and O'Connor) plus an injury prone Woods has done nothing to strengthen the squad.
