Callum Woods signs till end of season

When will people like you, realise that top players are more adaptable than lower league ones? Just because the likes of Ronaldo, Sterling, Valencia etc can play in an unaccustomed role, doesn’t mean lower league players should be able to.

Fact is, regardless of what he (Woods) believes and what he tells the local rag, he’s still only started 5 times as a left-back in the last 4+ seasons...!

Top players are TOP because they are versatile and adaptable.
Lower league players are only 'make shift' in a strange or alternative position.

I possibly played two dozen games in goal over 15 years ............ That didn't make me a 'Keeper - I was just the best of a poor bunch in a weak setup, in case of an emergency.

 

Much like P. O ‘Connor, another payer written off before he’s even kicked a ball for us.

 

Woods could turn out to be a good buy but like Anderson it’s another risky signing, In our predicament you would have thought this would have been the least sensible approach to ensure we remain in league 1

Maybe Hopkin has a lof of faith in McElhone to get these players in and get them match fit and give them individual training for their specific injuries ?.

 

Yep, it’s quite rediculous. It’s amazing how so many on here have such depth of knowledge on all pro and semi pro players across the world. It’s a wonder why they aren’t scounting professionally since they clearly know all there is to know.

All that said, interesting how Woods says he learnt of interest a week ago. Is this because we weren’t searching for a LB as a priority before then, or that we didnt get our initial targets?

 

Could be a matter of reasons. The January transfer market moves and changes so quickly, what were your original targets suddenly become unavailable, either through injuries or because the clubs couldn't come to a deal. As we stand at the moment it literally is a case of beggars can't be choosers, money restraints and a big possibility that we could go down means we are targeting a very select amount of players.
We desperately need more players in but i don't think its not for the want of trying, more for the fact we have very little budget to work with.

Why are top players more adaptable out of interest? They are playing against better players so any weaknesses will get found out.

 

Should be a good signing IF he stays clear of injuries. Seems very enthusiastic and i’m guessing he’s looking to impress for either an extended stay at VP or an offer from another club. Looks to have left other clubs on good terms, fingers crossed.

 

Callum Woods must be going senile. He remembers being in the bench at VP for Huddersfield when they haven’t played at VP since 2006. He was on the bench for Preston in 2015.

 

Preston local radio reported he had signed for 2 1/2 year deal according to someone at work yesterday .

 

That might be on proviso we stay up? He sounds confident that we will, ‘only half a season gone, plenty of time’

 

And hopefully on the proviso he can evidence he can stay fit. 2 and a half year deal sounds pretty scary to me, given his injury record, could have another Jake Reeves/Alex Jones on our hands if we aren't careful.

A players versatility is directly linked to talent level???

That is the worst argument I've ever heard.

A player who is BETTER than his current level, maybe... But to compete at the top level players obviously have to play to their maximum potential.

That’s what makes the top players. I don’t know why they are adaptable. Some people just are and I don’t just mean within the one sport. Some are able to choose the sport they actually compete at
