Presuming Woods will fit in at left back, I would be far more confident going into the Burton game with a back four of Caddis - McGowan / O'Connor - NKP - Woods. One of McGowan or O'Connor has to miss out because they can't play left sided centre half. NKP was finding some form before Barnsley so I'd stick with him with a seemingly stronger left back outside him.

Another deal till the end of the season so he's got a point to prove.

 

It is not what Hopkin was saying months ago- we were ready to go on jan1st and get players in;

Payne/O'Brien were backed and Ball on a permanent was good business BUT if the pot is now empty then you all know how it will end.
P. O'Connor/Richardson and Woods are not the quality required.

 

If we were asked - would you swop Woods coming in for Isherwood (who appears to be on his way to Sweden) most of us would say yes - this makes it a step in the right direction albeit a relatively small one

 

Short term, cheap and injury prone defender short of match fitness. Well that must give us all a sense of optimism. My sense of dread deepens by the day.

 

Paudie O'Connor is definitely a bencher, I really don't think Woods will be though.

To be honest, had Stuart signed Woods from Preston, people would be saying he'd signed another Championship-calibre player, why aren't we making these kinds of signings, etc, etc.

The problem is Woods' injury record and the (presumed) lack of immediate fitness. We need players that will beat Burton on Saturday; I guess we have to hope Woods steps in at left back and gives us much-needed experience and strength along a cripplingly poor back line.

What I do agree with though, is we need some winners in and sharpish. Players that can turn this god-awful season around.

Woods has been at Deepdale since 2014. But injuries have restricted him to just an hour’s action so far this season.

This has to be a worry surely he can't be match fit, can he do 90 minutes ?.

Puts our january signings so far into perspective.
If we are asking can he do 90 minutes then that has to be the wrong question.
Club is not bringing in the quality players needed to survive.
Losing out again and relying on the last few desperate hours of jan 31st.

 

Much like P. O ‘Connor, another payer written off before he’s even kicked a ball for us.

 

Woods could turn out to be a good buy but like Anderson it’s another risky signing, In our predicament you would have thought this would have been the least sensible approach to ensure we remain in league 1

We seem to be signing players with a high profile injury history and when they get injured, they recover and get injured again!

Hope this lads experience will help us survive.His championship nous should compensate somewhat for his age and lack of pace?

Never judge a signing till you have seen them play but on the face it doesn't excite me

I think a few would’ve said similar things about Caddis but he’s been one of the signings of the season so far.
