So you are suggesting that when they announced it in 1995 it should come in fully till 2045?

I'm suggesting that a reduction in pension from older contributors would not only save money but also give them a chance to retire at an earlier age. The younger contributors would have time to plan their pensions.

If you haven't already done so, I'd recommend getting some financial advice about your current pension position.

I'm guessing you've got various pensions knocking around in addition to your stage pension entitlement??

using myself and my mrs as an example of the older end getting shafted. I am lucky to be in a position to eventually be in receipt of more than one pension. I'm more concerned about the men and women in hard manual jobs who are now expected to work until they drop.

Sorry for not agreeing with you. You didn’t seem to want to give an exact number for how much notice you thought was acceptable either

can we agree on one thing. There are people who will now have to work until their dying day because of the change to pension ages. Manual workers will be most affected. I may have misrepresented myself because I am lucky. Many won't be. I respect your opinion but don't agree. There is a middle ground where fairness exists. Respects

I was going to say that's why you should fight for your rights. But I'm beginning to sound like a Labour MP. Enjoy what's left of your weekend. Best wishes.

Be interesting to see how our European friends in the likes of France, Gernany, Sweden, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria etc and the likes retire their elderly, and what pensions they recieve.
Most of my working life was within the foundry industry and how the hell those guys could be expected to continue working untill they are 70/75 years old is beyond comprehension, sitting behind a computer till your the above age is one thing but to suggest manual workers continue needs serious looking into.

    Alternatively retrain at some point?

If you do look into what is paid by our European neighbours do remember to take into account what level they pay in and if the figures quoted are total pension income figures or just part.
