He was part of an xi which got a much needed result and he played his part in that. He won headers whether people like it or not and he hustled and bustled against the Center backs and won us the ball higher up the pitch than we have done recently.

If you asked Doyle if he prefers it with or without Kai then I’m sure he will say with him. And that’s all we need right now.

We have to take the pressure off of the back four and Kai did that yesterday. He won headers and got us further up the pitch. He will do a job until January.

Why do we have to slate him every single time he plays? We get edin signed him and we get he isn’t good enough but credit where it’s due yesterday. Can’t say fairer than that

If edin has gone at least you’ve all got someone you can slate and mock until he leaves too

    Least effe
your right results show he contributes. That is two or three times now he has had a standing ovation and yet you come on here and people are slating him. He doesn’t ever really look like scoring so I don’t think he is the long term answer but until we get someone else he does a decent job

That's around the fourth time you've said about Kai being involved in the build up to the goals in this thread yet it's absolutely not even close to being true.

The first goal was a Payne corner, Doyle won the header and then Ball scored at the back post and the second goal there are at least 4 different City players (Ball, Doyle, O'Brien, Payne) that touched the ball after Bruenkers supposed touch, which incidentaly was so far back that it isn't even included in the highlights reel.

This is like the Hanson argument all over again where his supporters just randomly made stuff up to pretend he was more effective than he actually was.

OK - I think most of us get that, NM ........... However, Bruenkers presence also created an unsureness within the Away camp, thus making them less effective, defensively. Surely that counts for Kai being involved in 'some' build up play ?

Ah, the "presence" argument. He really is the second coming of James Hanson!

Look Ronnie, I'm neither praising him or knocking him but history (with the Hanson debates) should tell us that we aren't doing the lad any favours at all by building up his performances with fiction.

If the lad genuinely did well and made a difference (which imo he did) then point it out and give real examples but posters shouldn't just make things up to support their particular viewpoint.

And how many players were marking him to leave room and what about the great head down which set up the goal that was but still disallowed. For probably the first time this season the ball played from back to front wasn’t coming back Kai was winning his fair share and others the defender under pressure was heading wildly. Kai was a big reason we did better upfront yesterday

For the first goal? Just the one standard defender.

For the second goal? Absolutely no one. He was in about 10 yards of space and his closest "marker" was Jack Payne. It's there to see with your own eyes in the highlights reel.

    Any more for any more?

It may have escaped your notice but we actually won yesterday. Which player do you think should have started ahead of Brunker and in what way do you think that said player would have changed yesterday's result?

And therein lies my point, NM. ;)

The lad is no Lge 1 player, for sure, and yes some may build him up to be better than he is. Yet as things stand - City need every and any possible positive at the moment, bud. :)

    Oh come on!!!

I'm of the opinion that despite him not being a great player he should, at the moment, play upfront with Doyle as that's the type of player Doyle needs. That's hopefully until Jan comes when we sign a proper target man. He played well, listens to more experienced players and is getting better and better and does a great job with ability he has.

Maybe he is a lucky omen too. I believe the last league game he started was at Wimbledon, which of course we won. In fact, I believe we might be unbeaten in the 3 or 4 games he has started, or maybe someone who can be bothered to check will correct me!

Without doubt his physical presence gave the Oxford defender problems at times something we have not seen enough of so far this season.

Breunker may not have the required quality to play at this level but he is now contributing something worthwhile. With a decent target man signed in Jan he may well become an impact sub but if we support him he can only improve rather than criticise which is going to sap any confidence he may have.

If the rest of the team were as enthusiastic then performances would improve.

This Bruenker issue reminds me of Norman Corner for older members.

He joined us at a bad time results wise and we went on a great undefeated run and although he was as ungainly as you could imagine he scored goals,he was a complete nuisance to defenders and when things moved on,we kept him and played him at centre half!

Given a chance, you just never know what a player can do.

Their is a reason why Hanson was the first name on the teamsheet under Parky and SMc.
At this level, its about playing the percentages, winning second balls, physical presence etc.
Anything to tip the odds in your favour.
It puzzles me when fans think they know better than experienced managers.

Bruenker didn't contribute a great deal, looks rubbish with the ball, and barely won any headers - but i'll say this for him, he attracts defenders, which can open space for the likes of Payne and Doyle and Ball.

but yeah he's crap and I think "does a decent job" is stretching it a bit.

he does A job, but you could put me up front and i'd do that same job, it doesn't make me a good player.

Remember those days well @Old city man@Old city man, but not sure about playing Kai in our defence, on Saturday when he came back for set pieces he was doing some dodgy stuff in the area that he could have given away a penalty, playing him up top with the sort of enthusiasm as he always shows can only be good.

“He didn’t do a great deal” using your negative handicap system that makes him have a good game?

Oh come on Ricc. Even you must admit he did OK on Saturday....and he definitely won his share of headers even though he still missed some completely!
