Jeez. Ridiculous statement. Yes, he's clumsy and sometimes mistimes his jumps. But did you miss the the headers he won today, including the two that lead to a goal and a wrongly disallowed goal?
He won more challenges today than Doyle and Miller have won between them all season. Have you missed how CBs have been putting our midfield straight back under pressure from our clearances because they've had no one challenging them for headers? That happened far less today.
He's a long way from being Bobby Campbell, Lee Mills or even James Hanson at his peak. But he did a bloody good job for us today. Unless & until we can get a decent CF in in January he's the best target man weve got, so we need to support and encourage him to keep repeating todays performance, not criticise him when he plays well.

It all about the physical battle no target man wins every header sometimes the fact the they challenge for the ball can make the defender make a mistake, which most could see today it was good to see we had an outlet.
Robinson was doing his nut gesturing with the 4th official when Kai went and hugged each and every City player on his way across the pitch not forgetting to shake the referees hand and take his tie ups off before he left the pitch, classic gold Kai.

I feel really sorry for the lad - doesn't matter what he does he'll always get pelters and sarcastic cheers but he puts in the effort - can't say the same for a lot of our other players in the last few months.

Clearly he hasn't been good enough for this level and up until Saturday he's shown nothing to suggest he could do anything for us. Saturday he looked like a potential player. Won headers, bullied defenders, ran all game harassing Oxford and took the pressure off a lot of our other players - even if he didn't contribute in terms of goals and assists directly he did contribute to build up and also offers extra protection defensively.

He can only improve with game time.

It's doesn't matter if he's shit, or if he's a Rahic signing. He's a city player, he puts in a shift every time he plays, get behind him and the manager at least until January.

There are similarities between Carbone and Bruenker. When Carbone was here he played on a different level to his team mates.........so does Bruenker :)

For those who stayed till the end I loved his conducting the Kop to sweet Caroline!

Love the guy, he wears his heart on his sleeve and is genuinely improving. Deserves to keep his place after today

James Hanson v Brunker = no comparison

I doubt Brunker would get in Eccy Utd team. Absolute waste of a wage

He is 20% of a Steve Davies, maybe 10% of a Jamie Proctor........I love a trier and clapped him off as giddily as anybody, he deserved it. But really? Come on, he is way out of his depth and if he is starting on merit then that is alarming, to say the least.

Clearly he isn’t anywhere near Hanson in terms of ability and up to today I would have agreed with you. I am not saying it was an outstanding individual performance but the difference his performance made to the side today was easy to see.

His team mates certainly appreciated his effort today, says a lot.. Not seen many applauded off like that before (unless they were applauding hopkin). If he could channel some of his aggression and needless charging about, he could be something to work but he gives his all which isnt something you could say about certain others this season. Fair play to him, and i still live in hope he will at some point smash in a winner at the kop end.

Not a good trait criticising when someone has played well.

We had Hanson's best years, he was well and truly on the decline before he left so to end up getting 250 grand for him was damn good business. 100% right decision to sell when we did imo.

Best way to look at it. Fact is we have nothing else. Hopkin sees the need for a target man, every man and his dog can see we need a target man, unfortunately something our recruitment committee were too damn thick too see. The only player in the whole squad able to play that role is, for whatever reason, is Bruenker. Did i enjoy is contribution today? Sure as hell i did, the lad gave everything and should keep his place for the Luton game. Do we need a new target man in January? Too right, if we are to stay up unfortunately big Kai is not the answer, i wish he was as his passion is infectious, but sometimes you need more than just effort.

if we released Doyle, Miller, hell even Josh Wright, Hope Akpan, Chicksen - anyone else near enough - they'd find another club in England.

Kai Bruenker won't. I am willing to wager that not a single other English club is going to try and sign Bruenker when he leaves City.

Interesting that your 8 posts have all been negative. I suspect you're a major WUM and can't be taken seriously. Now feck off.

I can’t believe I’ve read this. Of all the positives I could pick, this couldn’t be further from my interpretation.
Miles away from all headers until a couple in the second half, Lucky not to get a red card for a two footed lunge (off the ground)in the first half, other petty fouls throughout, playing wide men in then ambling around not making a move or run toward the box.
Granted he grafts, and shows his passion, but he’s hands down the worst player I’ve seen pull on the shirt!

When the crowd ironically cheers him winning a header that for me tells you all you need to know.

OK ! Fair enough ........... We all have opinions - But just one teeny weeny thing ;) .............

Earlier you chose to mention both Jake Speight and Ross Hannah - Each being superior to Bruenker. Quite possibly. However, I cannot recall once when either of those contributed more to a game than Kai did in his performance yesterday. MOM, he never was............. But I have to question would City have Won without him on the field ? The ovation he received was well deserved, IMO. Speight and Hannah never came close to that.

Further, Kai has seen professional football ........ at VP ;)
YES - He is becoming a 'cult' player. Purely because he shows he gives a damn, and gives his all whilst others more gifted tend to shirk and hide. We've always loved an underdog, so why change ? If Kai can deliver a similar performance against Luton, then we may just get something from the game.

I thought that he did well against Aldershot and generally looked to have the beating of their central defenders. Oxford, like other most other L1 defences, had him in their pocket for the first 20 minutes but that changed with the 2 goals and when their confidence crashed he had an effective game.

If some of the more talented players we've fielded in the last 12 months had shown even half of his commitment and enthusiasm, we would not be propping up the table right now. If we have a good transfer window I doubt that we'll see much of Kai in the new year but there's a couple of home games before then and I'd love for him to be able to take the memory of scoring a goal in front of the kop back to Germany with him but even if that doesn't happen, he can still leave with his head held high because he really has given it his best shot.
