I spent a very unpleasant night in Llangollen in 2013, after hearing that City had lost at Exeter , England were playing Wales at RU and got hammered.
The hatred of the English had to be seen to be believed, but what was strangest is that most of the rabid Welsh folk were actually incoming scousers.
Never paid much attention to the Welsh before, but can't stand them now.

 

Had been on holiday to the south of France in the late 80s. Met a group of Welsh lads from Anglesey, had a great time with them, kept in touch. Arranged to meet up with them when we got back and had a weekend down in Anglesey. Several pubs that we went in they told us to just go sit down, be quiet until they got back from the bar and not to be rowdy!! The perceived threat was certainly there!! It was like the Slaughtered Lamb in American Werewolf....not a pleasant experience!

 

He wont get that big a reception I wouldnt have thought. He didn’t at Bolton away - where he barely acknowledged the city fans!

Very wise words. Your friend having a stroke is the sort of thing that makes you appreciate the good times while they are here. I too bad a work colleague/drinking buddy who had a bad stroke a few years ago. While at work or enjoying a beer our banter could be quite vitriolic (he is a L***s fan) but at the end of the day although our banter could be quite brutal that's all it was just banter, something which I miss so much.
Some of the abuse that some ex (and present) players have received recently hasn't say well with me and I am no shrinking violet. Oh and I too hope that we thoroughly thrash Wrexham.

 

Loss of Platt is an issue. We haven’t really played any other CB pairing. Taylor looked decent against Grimsby so I’d be tempted to go with him, although I don’t know much about Wrexham so if they have a pacey forward line I might change my mind. I’m not sure Kelly is cut out for a 2 man pairing and haven’t seen the loanee so can’t see how it makes sense to through him in for this one.

 

I think I trust Kevin McDonald's judgement, he will certainly know how much threat Stephen Fletcher poses and who to put up against him, if he starts.

I've heard from a friend at the club that the Wrexham bigwigs will be in attendance but let's see!

 

Cue half the crowd wetting themselves with anticipation looking towards the directors box rather than the pitch.

 

The fact Taylor was on the bench at Wimbledon and Kelly wasn't, indicates to me that it will be Taylor to get the nod

No signs of any tits going up in the foreseeable. Record breaking turnover, crowds etc.
We've always had a large amount of floating fans who turn up when its going well and then aren't seen when we were crap, which was most of the time. Same at most clubs I'd imagine. Since the takeover that's obviously all gone out the window and everyone wants in.
For a fan like me who's been supporting the club for over 30 years its weird, can be annoying at times but the overriding feeling now is that we have hope now, and before we had none. Simple as that.

The Wrexham fans saved the club twice in the last 30 years. And stepped in financially numerous other times too.
2005 when Hamilton tried to take the ground and kill the club and then again 2011 when we raised the bond money, in under 24 hours to stay in the National League. The supporters trust then took over the club, cleared our debts and put us debt free, got the ground back and basically made the club primed and ready for a takeover. If that's not backing your club I don't know what is.

As for the game I have no idea. If we turn up then it should be a belter. We generally have turned up away from home, the shit show at Stockport aside.
Mullin is deceptively quick but is still not 100%, he's not far off though. He's due some goals anytime now... Fletcher I doubt will start as he had no pre season and is still getting match fit but what a player, just oozes class and could easily still play at a higher level.
If you can defend wide areas and set pieces that's key against us. We also don't enjoy the high press. We like a ball over the top for Mullin. You know what Parky is like, it isn't pretty sometimes..
Looking forward to visiting again, last time I came to Bradford was yonks ago when we were last in the league and I can't remember what the score was but I think we lost.

 

I remember you guys coming to Valley Parade with your buckets many years ago, as you know we've had similar times but did not go out of business or fortunately non league, us fans know all about Parky some seem to have forgotten what he did for this club during his time here, not just the fantastic Cup runs but the togetherness he brought BACK to Bradford City, if for nothing else Phil Parkinson will always be in my top 5 Bradford City managers and I've been watching well over 60 years enjoy the trip but not too much.

 

We're all as a nation deeply upset at this, still to this day and boy it hurts. I doubt we'll ever get over it if I'm honest.
