Well i have been watching City a long time over 50 seasons and have seen some good players. This lad Pointon is going to be a top player, he has speed of thought, never wastes the ball and he knows where the ball is going to go before he receives it. The back heal to put through Walker said it all, no this lad is a real gem, thank god Hughes has gone.

 

You forgot his work rate phenomenall

 

I think it was definitely a mistake to drop Pointon.

He was the bright spark in a time where people weren't enjoying the football.

Hughes shouldn't have taken away the one thing people were enjoying, but ultimately, he did.

On the other hand, no, we shouldn't be relying super heavily on a 19 year old, but if he's good enough to feature... why not let him feature...

 

My thoughts on the game

Lewis - 8 - Didn't have much to do, but that save was excellent. Also, distribution was a lot better

Halliday - 8 - Been a solid performer all season

Stubbs - 7.5 - No messing about, Didn't give the Swindon Attackers a sniff

Platt - 5 - Il be honest, I think he's a liability. Had a few feck ups in the first half that lead to Swindon chances.

Ridehalgh - 4 - I don't rate him. I know some are praising him on here but most of Swindon's luck came from his side. He also kept getting beat by his man. Richards is the better option for that spot for sure

Smallwood - 8.5 - Solid performance. Allowed to play his natural game. I like how he was willing to risk a second yellow in the 91st minute, just to stop a Swindon counter. definition of taking one for the team

Gillead - 8.5 - Wasn't the best in the first half, stepped up in the second. Great overall performance

Walker - 7 - Wasnt his best performance this season, but he still put in the hard yards

Pointon - 9 - Rightfully the MOTM. Full of energy, enthusiasm, willing to be direct. Deserved his goal. Played with his heart on his sleeve.

Cook - 6.5 - Il be honest, He looked a bit lazy today, was willing to allow Walker an Pointon to do the pressing, usually he joins in. Missed a few sitters but nothing to stress about



Oyegoke - 6 - Came on, did well. Stuck to the basics, was a good outlet on the right

Osadebe - 3 - Hes getting a 3 because he created a chance for himself out of nothing. Besides that he was dog shit. I cant fault a player for not being at the level expected of Bradford City, but to be walking around the front line, when you've only been on for 10 mins, an your team mates are running themselves into the ground in order to gain a win, well I just find that unacceptable

Smith - 5 - Needs to take the game by the scruff of the neck. The attributes of a good player are there but for the time being, it looks like he lacks the ability. Jury still out on this one

Good performance overall, not the best, the defence an midfield needs to become a bit more structured, felt it was a bit too easy to cut through us today, but Swindon are a good team an that is what they do. We kept them at bay an stopped them from playing their natural game, so well done to Mcdonald an the boys, was an enjoyable game for once an I look forward to the next one

 

Great wasn't it? Like football should be. Today proved just how bad it was under Hughes and puts an end to this myth about him having the handbrake on i keep reading. That wasn't a handbrake, it was Hughes style of football and it was utterly grim.

Swindon reminded me of us, last season. In fact a bit like our performance at their place, where we started well and then just got bogged down.

Doesn't seem a Flynn type of team. Clearly he's caved in to their obsession with 'passing football'. Be interesting if he now reverts to type, i.e. we've done it the Swindon way and it's not fully working, we'll now do it my way.

 

I don't think Kemp is any better than Walker and his problem is he often ambles around, expecting the ball to come to him.

Yes, he's L2 quality, but there's a reason why MK Dons have shipped him out on loan for the past year.
