Playing it out from the back got us 21 points before yesterday.
Going long aimlessly created naff all against Stockport.
The risky balls are supposed to create the space as it draws opposition in leaving gaps.
Let opposition sit its far harder to break down.
It is one defeat in 8 league games.
Lets see after the next 8 how we react.
Jesus christ, its like we lose one and everyone wants Adams or Bowyer back ffs.

It's a common tactic now as the benefit of having everyone back outweighs the benefits of having 1 out as it very rarely results in a goal or even a chance.

People have very short memories, under each manager it’s always currently worse than previous ones when in reality it’s far from the case.

A bloke said behind me that Halliday is the worst right back we’ve ever had. I know he had a shocker Saturday (although no worse than a few others) but worst we only had Threlkeld last season(he said the same then). People often remember what’s in front of them and little else when emotions are involved.

Does that surprise you, read some of the reasons why a couple on here want Cook dropping because he's only scored 1 in 3 games and he offers nothing if he doesn't score.

The advantage of leaving a player near the halfway line is that 2 players have to be left to mark him, So if you bring everyone back they will put 10 players in your area for the corner where if you leave a player up by the halfway they can only put 8 players in your area for the corner,
Trevor Cherry used to leave a winger (John Hendrie) wide left by the halfway line as he said the players knew he would always be there and knew where to clear the ball so it would not come straight back. With Hendrie been the player he was it did in fact lead to goals

I also don't understand why a player like Wright is not left on the half way line for the out ball, he's got pace that the opposition would need 2 players to mark him, but more to the point what does the lad offered being in the box, so many teams do it their managers must think its the correct way to use a little guy like Wright.

Especially in the 2nd half when we had
Platt, Son'go, Angol, Oliver, Cook, Foulds all in our own box to defend a cross

Because everytime the ball went to him he would be flagged offside

Managers often use the smaller players to block off the run of their taller players so they can't get a run on the defenders.

No teams put 10 players in the box for a corner, they all have someone back on or near the halfway line. When can you last remember a team scoring a goal on a counter attack from a corner due to having 1 player left up the pitch?

Almost every game the opposition put everyone in or around the box to trap us in because we have everyone back. Why leave a player back marking no one when he could be putting pressure on the corner

You can’t be offside in your own half! One meter in your own half is sufficient!

I watch Cook quite closely having being a forrrrad albeit a very poor one... I have seen him hold it up, chase stuff down win headers and run the full length of the opposing half to score. I think he is okay but to be fair no one was covered in glory Saturday. I really rate Timmy but Saturday he was like all our players versus Rochdale away on a Tues night (few years back) when we took 4500....rabbit in the halogens.... He looked really scared. Onwards and upwards and Abo and Walker are back soon....... Chapman looks tired and Lord Luton looks a little lost at the moment... Cmon HUGHESY GET IT SORTED FEED OUR GOATS from wide wide wide ....

Stockport had Madden well out of the area when they had a corner on Saturday.

I'd still like to see Wright pulled out and see what the opposition did with regards marking him, IMO they could not risk leaving a one on one.

Try telling linos that !!! If he's on the halfway line, he will run as soon a the ball is hit. He might have been onside when it's hit but 99 times out 100, the myopic lino won't see that and his flag will go up as soon as he hits the other half.

Also, the offside "offence" is sometimes pulled back to where the ball is played. We have seen loads of ocassions recently where an offside has been given and the free kick is inside the attacking teams half. Technically that could mean them pulling the ball back to the edge of our box. By all means leave him up, but make sure he is at least ten yards inside our half.

How does that counter anything I just said.. You cannot be offside in one’s own half?
