OK, credit where credit is due, I didn't think Halliday was any better that Hendrie. However last couple of games I think he has looked pretty good, particularly going forward. Contrary to what many on here seem to think, I think it's his defensive positioning and one on one defending that is the weaker part of his game, although it wasn't as bad yesterday. It's good that we have another genuine right back to come in.

Have to laugh at Evans’ interview. Claiming refs get intimidated coming here, then also had a pop about us being big spending Bradford lol.

Isn't it more often the case that City don't get decisions from referees who decide they aren't going to be influenced by the big home support?

No, it's more the case that fans expect referees to give them every contentious call and whinge like fck when they don't, completely oblivious to the fact that referees are impartial.

There won't be a single forum in the country that claim the refs give them a fair number of decisions. Every clubs fans will argue they never get owt from the refs.

Why can't our opponents just accept that players choose to play for City for free?

I think the refs are just appalling for everyone at this level.

It’s time the EFL/FA thought about making refs full time professional in all the top 4 divisions because the standards are simply not good enough. I actually think the assistant refs or whatever you have to call them now are the worst, they just guess so many calls. VAR at this level would take all day.

I suppose it’s the costs involved why it would never happen, but we’d see a marked improvement if they got the same training etc as PL refs.

I’ve heard many players take pay cuts to play for the famous claret and amber.

More to worry about what’s going on in life than the colour of somebody’s tie.

Be nice to see him break David (Bronco) Layne's record of 34 in a season, maybe I'll change my user name, I think his record is safe it would take some doing in the modern game.

I think its the other way round. He's good defensively but yesterday his distribution was terrible, his passing stats must have made grim reading.

I've heard they actually pay to play for the City. Tenner subs and wash their own kit

Very early days and next Saturday seems a long way off, but had a sneaky look at next weekends L2 fixtures and we have a real chance of being in close touching distance of the top few, they all seem to have tough games especially Barrow v Orient game. Early days but exciting stuff we've been starved of in recent seasons.

No the goal is to stop the opponent knocking you out, similar to what Sunny Edwards did to Jayson Mama Mama rarely laid a glove on him.
Do you support the debate with regards banning heading the ball in football do we ban it, rugby must be banned because of the brutality of the tackles, MMA to be banned as that is far more brutal than boxing.

I agree to a certain extent but there are still major bollox being dropped on a fairly regular basis even in the premier league.
Take the other week. Not one person watching the Chelsea v West Ham incident involving Bowen on the keeper thought that was a foul.
The on field ref had a perfect view and deemed it a goal. The very experienced VAR ref however suggested he go have a look on the screen after supposedly seeing something different to what everybody else had seen.
The on field ref was then shown exactly the same image he had initially seen with his own eyes and is then virtually forced to change his decision even though he is seeing exactly the same images again.
Newcastle v Palace.A blatant shove on the Newcastle player yet that camera angle that was freely available wasn’t viewed by the VAR ref.
    Absolutely ridiculous.
I actually thought yesterdays ref wasn’t too bad. Both challenges by Halliday were yellow cards and apart from the challenge on Chapman which went unpunished I thought he got most things right.
Teams like that are crafty. They sort of take it turns to do the niggly fouls which don’t get yellows normally.
I’ve said it before. There are good refs and shit refs at every level.
Admittedly the top refs tend to get most of the big decisions right but it is by no means a certainty, even with the help of modern technology.
