What a great bunch MH has assembled, they may not all be the best players in the league but the team spirit amongst them seems sky high and as we well know at this level alongside graft it's probably the most important ingredient.
There is definitely not a better a squad in L2, but in L2 you need much more than just the best squad, all you need is a few match winners, backed up with grafters and most importantly a great team spirit all fighting for one another. That combo gets you far in the lower leagues.

How often have you watched all the other teams in L2 play to make this assessment? I agree with your sentiment about team spirit but I always find it odd that people make statements about how good their team / squad is at L2 level. It's not as if it's the PL where we see the games week in week out. If we are honest apart from watching a side once or twice a season we don't have a clue what other squads are like.

Another win where we have rode our luck .......... but let’s be right we ain’t really got going yet and yet we stand 5th with still arguably our best player to come back in ......... come the winter months I can honestly see is causing some right damage with the size of our squad ............

I don’t think there was any luck involved yesterday when teams play the percentage game and get the ball in the box at every opportunity there will be the occasional half chance but our defence was excellent. And we missed chances of our own and made their keeper make some good saves

Evans is somewhat correct in that they did miss a couple of decent chances, but so did we. What he's failed to recognise is the quality of our defending and the fact that if your game plan is relentlessly predictable and one dimensional - big hoof into the box - then it becomes easier to defend because there's no surprise element.

Yes, Cook could have had a third with the chance in the first half the keeper knew little about.

It is difficult to name standout players for us yesterday.

    Cook of course
    Platt was immense
Smallwoods cute passing , long and short.
    Chapman best game so far
Gilly breaking things up doing the dirty work. ( We are a different side when he plays imho)
    Wright scared em to death
Lewis the one big save was exceptional at the right time
Hats off to Timi , a very very difficult opposition for his debut…he got better as the game evolved, but again Platt gelled it all together against a decent side who play to a ( one dimensional) plan and stick to it. Once the plan is sussed they can’t adapt based on that showing?

I could go on! Full backs were our Achilles heel getting caught in possession

Their full back throw ins are a cheat.

Exactly. If we'd rode our luck, the result would have been 1-0 and we'd have been clinging on for dear life for 84 minutes. That was their first league defeat of the season and nobody but us has put 3 past them so far this season. That wasn't luck, that was Steve Evans experiencing the chickens coming home to roost.

Tight games are usually won and lost on taking your chances. Andy Cook scores with a header he has no right to score with, a fantastic finish, they had easier chances to equalise but poor finishing and a couple of saves prevented it. The second and third goals came at the right time for us effectively killing the game. There will be days like yesterday where we actually don't take the three points but with this squad i suspect we will win more than we lose because defensively we look resolute.

Let’s assume we can keep Crichlow for the full season and Platt / Odusina remain fit then yes they are an excellent trio who will see us right up there. Based on that showing , the biggest miss would be Platt, what an astute signing!

Critchlow goes back and Platt get clobbered ( OTT tackle yesterday could have caused serious injuries if you watch it back) and we could radically weaken our defensive options.

they missed a fair few chances in the first half don’t get me wrong the defence did well but they had a hell of a lot of opportunities to score same as the Walsall game and at some point we will get punished for allowing teams them chances

Good to see MH making timely, effective subs again. 3-0, game won, Songo'o and Sutton on to shore things up a bit. I'm a bit torn on the Halliday sending off. The game was won. Half of me thinks it was a stupid, needless challenge that he didn't need to make that far up the pitch.....then the other half of me thinks it's fantastic that 89th minute, games won, and he's still going for it 100%.
