It was neither a penalty or a dive. It’s a contact sport and both just made 50/50 contact and Cook lost his footing, as did a number of players yesterday the pitch seemed to give way quite a lot. If that’s a penalty or a free kick, then every corner would result in one. Terrible decision by a terrible ref who doesn’t really understand the game beyond what’s written in the rule book. The best for me was when they scored their second, he warned the player not to go over to the kop and what happened he did it and Drysdale did nothing as per. He could have laid down the law with that incident, instead any play acting and time wasting went unpunished until near the end. As for 3 minutes injury time! Don’t make me laugh, the throws were taking 30/40 seconds a time. The guys clueless but we can only be glad non of his decisions effected the outcome, this time.

 

Out of interest which game was this? And what was Poor ?

 

I think it was the game at Notts County? Didnt he get sacrificed at half time ?

Wasn’t he out wide thus innocuous ?

 

Looking at yesterday in isolation, it's a great result against a team who are very good on their travels.
They've won at Lincoln and Wycombe (who beat us) to get to the 3rd round of the Fa cup, and beat Donny 5-0 on their last away trip.
So for us to draw from being behind and let's be honest could have won it, shows how far we've come in a few months.

 

Cook threw himself forward. He didn't trip or lose his balance. I'm all for appealing at the time and treating the ref as a Pantomime villain etc but let's be honest about it. It wasn't even subtle.

 

Yeah, had that Cook header against the bar late on gone in we would all now be delirious ....

 

Exactly. I think some people are adding 2+2 and getting 5. The squad is bloated and we can’t play everyone, but there always has to be a conspiracy for some.

Fair enough. But for me, Pointon would absolutely fit into this team as a deputy for Walker.

 

Maybe yesterday was a reality check we needed .......... maybe a few if us thought that this run would go on .......... dont get me wrong it wasnt the best performance but ive seen a lot worse over the last few season...........Under Hughes Morecambe would have seen that game out comfortably so credit where its due in forcing a draw out of it

There was plenty of contact, not a penalty but can you blame players when refs ignore them unless they go down? The ref was useless but the amount you defend them I’m not shocked you don’t think he was bad. I can only guess you’ve been in his position before or know someone who has. The lack of discipline is a big issue in the sport and refs don’t do themselves any favours letting players get away with time wasting and the like. The best for me was when their number 10 ranted at him after throwing himself to the floor, Drysdale then patted him on the back. It’s no wonder the games as it is.

 

It was the same with their 14.
Booked in front of the dugout and then continually berated the ref and linesman.

Dalot got a 2nd yellow at Anfield a few weeks ago for a lot less.

 

Drysdale spent many minutes talking to the Morecambe players throughout the match, I was beginning to think he was their coach ...!!

 

So do I.

 

The same day later on I watched a Serie A game where a player was given a straight red for swearing at the ref, exactly how it should be. He was rightly praised but the commentators, fans want consistency not for a ref to look like some players mates and yellowing others for nothing.

 

Late to the thread, went straight out after the game.
Morecambe were very quick and the early goal played right into their hands, we were off the pace and handicapped by Osadibe, who was all over the place, we missed that midfield link to the attacking players and Odour brought that to our game second half and yes we could have gone on to win it.
I have also wondered why Pointon was not even making the bench, especially with Walker and Pattison out, its very strange, i was told yesterday he has turned down a new contract offer. Do not know how true that is, but it could also explain a lot.
