Not sure it matters, we have got to go for it at Valley Parade first leg but even though Carlisle had the upper hand in the league games I honestly don't fear them over two legs, they certainly won't be able to accommodate those who want to attend, not sure how many they gave on Boxing Day but after our recent antics at away grounds the police may have a say in that.

 

Maybe not awful. But awful to watch. Allowances today for the anxiety factor and credit for getting the job done. But our approach play is awful to watch. Someone else posted its like the players are playing with a handbrake on, it's been like that all season and its spot on. For a player who was such a dynamic force, I'm surprised that Hughes playing style as a manager is so passive.

 

For me, Clayton is better than Gilliead in central midfield. Gilliead has tried hard but he's not a central midfielder. Clayton showed the skill today that we've missed in the middle of the pitch. He has to start for me. Whether Smallwood or Gilliead or East or whoever partners him is what needs to be decided.

Imagine the meltdown had we pushed for a second and conceded. We certainly learned a lesson from Wednesday night. Orient were a class above and you felt could've stepped it up at will. Carlisle are in terrible form and hopefully we'll have enough in the bag for the second leg. If we make it to Wembley, the possession based game will actually suit us, as no team will be able to press for 90 minutes on that pitch.

 

First leg is Sunday evening 7 pm. You'll be there!

 

As much as I would love that to happen (go for it).... I just don't think it's in Mark Hughes locker to set a team up like that.
How many times have we been in a position to "go for it" and put league positions in our own hands and not done so?

I'm not sure Orient weren't on it, they were without doubt the best team I've see at Valley Parade this season, their movement was all about confidence players running off the ball giving the player with the ball several options, broke in numbers and have so much confidence in the lad Sadlier giving him the ball at every chance, he was a real handful for Halliday and as we knew George Moncur ran the show for them, cant believe he's only 29 he seems to have been around years.

Says something if they were the best team you'd seen all season because it looked like they were hardly breaking a sweat.

 

They were excellent they play a similar way to us only better

 

Honestly Dave we should have walked the Carlisle away game. Wasn’t that the game where Cookie was dropped after as he missed three sitters. Am I dreaming?

 

No way of knowing but for me, they were in 2nd gear. Like a much, much better version our style

 

Gilly isn’t supposed to be in middle of the park. Never has been imho.

 

Much better. Better players, coached more effectively. And last season they finished right beside us. Puts Hughes performance into context, as does Stevenages season
