Can’t agree with the first point, the second isn’t quite right. The management PERMITTED him to leave, he couldn’t just walk away from a contract. Whether he wanted to leave is irrelevant in context of contracts.

 

Permitted because he wanted it Hughes said he would have preferred him to stay

 

That I am afraid is management speak or spin. However I always let an unhappy member of staff leave/ move, even though they were contracted. If I played hard ball they had to stay because they would be in breach of contract. I never did but it was always a tool in the box.

 

Just because you think he has been our 3rd best player this season doesn't mean he can't be improved upon.

 

I recall Moncur playing for Colchester at their place I think , and he was damn good that day. He was only a young lad then but he was class above the level. Imagine if we got him and Smallwood together. They both played at Hull at the same time from memory?
