There's massively less risk in terms of lost match day cost with a match that will have 500 supporters than one with 15,000

 

Hope Mrs Rocket doesn't find out games off Corn Dolly open all hours .....

A deep freeze like we have had this week I am not surprised. It is only going to be 5c degrees tomorrow no where near to defrost the pitch. For a quick defrosts needs to be double that. Then the pitch has to be prepared. It is very frustrating but there is nothing we can do about it. Well there is but it would costs a lot!

 

So can't be arsed with Tuesday's game, but your teddies flew out of the pram at Saturday being off ? Strange reaction.

 

Been out for a walk this afternoon (and the obligatory half a gallon in the Ling Bob). Where we have been on grass it is like perma frost, so i doubt even a 10 degree swing in temps would defrost enough to make a pitch playable. Good call getting it off early.

 

I’ve said on hundreds of other threads that Saturday games mean more to me as it forms much of my social activities for the weekend.
Tuesday night games are a pain in the arse due to work and rushing about etc etc.

 

Midweek games should be pulled back to 7.00pm K.O ...........Whoooooo, controversial....

 

7pm or 7.45pm makes no difference, its still a rush and often needing to shuffle work commitments and/or take time off if it’s away.
Anyway, we’re a league 2 club with a league 2 pitch and league 2 stadium facilities.

 

This isn’t difficult to work out…If it’s sunny on areas of the pitch then the covers are moved to melt the ice in the soil. Such is life eh?

 

That reminds me of an incident quite a few years back. In the Dolly by 1230 for a Sat game. I have Bristol in my mind but could easily be wrong. News filtered through around 1330 the game was off. Oh balls….fancy another Dave, go on then. And another, and another. Well one can guess the rest, getting home in a cab at 1800……She didn’t speak to me for several days ! No idea why?
