Indeed. I'm not taken by Stockport, I'm just of the opinion that Stockport are resolute defensively but don't score enough , despite the perceived threat upfront. Only 3 times in their last 15 games did they score more than 1 goal, whereas Salford found the net more than once, 10 time in their last 15 games.

On the "who will win the play offs" thread, I choose Salford , as they have the goal threat and our conservative approach, could be our undoing.

Mind, hope I'm wrong on the latter oint

 

It seems that Stocky went into this game with their equivalent of Cook. Walker. Banks and Gillead out and little prospect of them being back next week.

 

No Wootton or Madden tonight and that gave them little threat.

sorry once again I disagree I think Salford will suit us better because they are not a pressing team of whom always give us problems. But first we have to get passed Carlisle and if we do we don’t have long to wait

At the moment Sky have no interest in Lge 2 football.
If however,Salford get to the final,Sky will be wanking itself stupid at the thought of all the close ups of Giggs,Keane,Butt etc in the directors box.Neville will make sure of that.
There might even be a surprise appearance of a Beckham to send the Sky executives in to a fawning frenzy.
Fortunately to the rest of the football watching world they are rightly seen as a bit of a joke.

Felt all emotional watching this. Love it!

 

It was interesting to watch for me in some ways. It felt like watching one of our games. Both teams not really being on top of the other, not a lot of chances created but then moments when sudden good opportunities came. Shows how sudden moments of quality - a good run, a good cross, a good finish - can win a game.

 

It was hard to compare. I think it was a bit of a mismatch in that Salford had all their big players available - Mariapa, Watt, Hendry, McAleny, Smith - yet they didn't really create a lot. Stockport were missing their key attackers yet could easily have got a draw from that game. Salford may not have done enough to gain a significant advantage for the second leg.

Yes - this was what I was thinking as well.

 

Agree it was hardly a game that had you on the edge of your seat, Smith as usual a threat in the air and Watt sprayed a few good balls around but for me the only lad who was a threat was the kid Bolton wide right, but with the likes of Wootton, Madden and Sarcevic back unless they have longer term injuries they will look a far more formidable side.

 

On that showing yes Dave absolutely, but we have to get past the other unknown yet!

 

No doubt Stockport were missing key players yesterday evening but as I've said higher up, I've just a feeling that Salford are offensively a better team and goals ultimately win games. With Madden out, my one dimensional statement certainly has substance.
