Heading for our 4th home game out of 5 where we have failed to score from open play. McCall and the players are lucky they have not had to face the wrath of the crowds this season

To be totally frank, I couldn’t care a toss about Mansfield, Bolton or Salford.

We put in one of the most inept performances today, that I have had the misfortune to watch for a long time.

I am sick of us always having to set up to ‘match’ the opposition.

I am utterly fed up with the ‘tired legs’ excuse (the opposition have so much longer to recover).

    It was utterly crap today.

The only slight benefit is that l didn’t have a 62 mile round trip and only lost two hours of my life rather than five!

Rather than focusing on a cup win and one against arrogant wannabe’s, smell the reality of only two league wins, a minus goal difference, and fifteenth in the table.

Oh I forgot we beat Bolton in the cup (which we have subsequently been booted out of).

13 mins in and you can already see that no one knows where they're supposed to be playing, especially out of possession. The midfield is so exposed.

We're short of quality to begin with but this constant changing of systems is on McCall. Its poor management, its unnecessary, and it makes an already hard task harder.

Deluded fool on Radio now saying he feels sorry for McCall. Jesus, why are so many fans sentimental about McCall and saying it's never his fault. Clueless

Like other long-standing City fans I watched Stuart in both his spells as a player and hero worshipped him. So I'm automatically well disposed to him and probably cut him more slack than some others do. I'd love to see us prosper on his watch.
I was disappointed when he was appointed manager here for the first time because I felt it was too early, which proved correct.
I think he did an excellent job in his second managerial spell here. Yes, he had the bulk of PP's team to build on, but he built on it well. He took us to the brink of promotion, playing our best football since the Mills/Blake/Beagrie era, despite the malevolent force of Rahic constantly putting his nose in where it wasn't wanted. The following season he'd kept us in the playoffs by Christmas despite an unprecedented injury list and Rahic openly undermining his decisions and manoeuvring to get him out. His sacking was a disgrace and we've paid for that in spades with a series of failed managers since.
His latest appointment smacked of desperation by a rudderless club on a downward trajectory.

I don't think SM is at all suited to working with L2 players. He was a PL and international player and thinks like one. He wants a level of flexibility and tactical nous that most L2 players aren't capable of delivering. His constant selection tinkering and formation changes aren't producing the intended effect of countering opposition strengths. It's simply making us look confused and disorganised. We have too few good players, but even those we have look uncertain and are playing below their capabilities. Our strike force is poor; they are going to miss lots of chances, so we have to find a way of creating more chances or our goals will dry up completely. We also have to be miserly at the back. Neither of these objectives will be achieved by constant changing of tactics, formation and personnel. Somehow he has to find a system that best suits the players we have and stick to it.
I don't think that sacking Stuart mid season is going to get us far. We have to try to get off the merry go round and find some consistency. With an uninterested owner and a stand-in CEO we are treading water, or possibly slowly sinking. Just changing the manager isn't going to alter that. We need this new CEO and a reboot really badly. Somehow we have to find a positive plan and direction and it needs fresh ideas at board level to do that.

Big big match this one, Newport doing well at the start of their season. It’ll be a test for us see how we’re gonna fair pushing the playoff/promotion spots.

I’m confident of us getting all 3 points! But it’s gonna be a wee bit of a challenge this game!

Let’s all get behind the club this weekend and give them some solid support!

    COME ON CIIITTYYY!!!!

What did Harrogate, Walsall and Newport all have in common? Players who fully understood what system they were meant to be playing, and as a consequence, looked confident and secure as they moved around the pitch together, and in interplay. When you know EXACTLY where you're meant to be showing, what players you're meant to back up, you make less dumb mistakes. We have already made so many dumb mistakes thus far this season - who am I meant to pick up? Who am I meant to cover? What's my run back? What's my run forward? At the absolute basic, who am I meant to be marking in the box and beyond? There were times today on the pitch when decent players were made to look bad, because they just didn't seem to understand what the tactics were, and there individual parts in it.

I am sick to death of McCall thinking its necessary to change shape and system every single week, its complete nonsense. You look at Newport today - they knew in the summer they wanted to play 3-5-2 so recruited as such and have played that system ever since, no matter the opposition. Same for the likes of Harrogate.

What was it, three formations in this game alone? Its absolutely pathetic and is no surprise that our players look clueless. They don't know their roles and responsibilities because they're not allowed to get any consistency with a different approach every week.

Sure, tweak the odd player and instruction depending on the opposition but to keep changing everything as we do constantly has become tiresome.

The decision to re-sign DMH is as bad as Bowyer re-signing Anderson and Devine. What were you thinking Stuart?

WTF does Kenny Black do exactly? Surely he should be opposing Stuart's tactical disasters and going with the strongest formation we can put out.

I hope i'm wrong but there are simllarities between us now and the latter end of Bowyers management spell. Critical defensive problems, an apparent allowing of teams to run through unchallenged, no decent wide player or someone who can carry the ball, a reluctance to shoot when in good positions, very little in terms of pace. There's probably a few more. If we lose on Tuesday against what is a pretty poor Bolton side then the pressure will go up another level.

And it was so predictable when you saw the lineup. Instantly you could see we'd be vulnerable in wide areas and overrun in midfield. I accept the limitations of some players, and the squad as a whole - but mccall is mismanaging what he does have.

I have never been so disillusioned in 55 season of following us, and I include the awful Peter Taylor era.

The sooner Rupp, Rhodes and McCall are gone the better, but I suspect, we will have lost a lot of fans before this happens

Thanks Idlebantam. Try to keep out of the more nutso
Thanks Idlebantam. Try to keep out of the 'usual suspects' beefs, bitches and hyperbole. I'm not on here to shame, blame or score ego points. More interested in how our beloved club can move forward. And I'm worried, mate!

mccall blames himself for today citing the formation change, im sorry but was that not the first reason he gave for the harrogate loss?

Two poor home defeats, both as a result of the wrong formation, will he learn?
