It’s absolutely true.

There’s nuance to every situation and sensible discussion to be had about why we’re in the position that we are.

You don’t end up in this position by accident and mistakes have clearly been made, but for a lot of people it’s a sensationalist ‘who can be the most outraged’ competition like it’s your civic duty to regard every decision made by the club as utterly moronic.

I feel like there's a challenge laid down here to be impressed by the decisions made by 'the club', whatever that means.

It’s the absence of any constructive discussion by certain people, opting instead for finding the most provocative ways of saying ‘everything’s awful’. You can’t discuss it or argue it, because there’s a counterfactual world where everything is brilliant and rosy.

 

You’re missing the point, which wasn’t to defend the decision making at the club.

It’s the method of making the point, denouncing utter straw men as ‘sneerers’, the lack of any semblance of materialising what you’re suggesting. What do you expect from this other than the opportunity for people to pat you on the back and heartily agree or stand in line to be termed a happy clapper?

 

I happen to agree.

The Bowyer appointment was a strong one. He was absolutely the right appointment. The Stuart re-appointment did make some sense.

The transfers have been a balls up, though, and I'm largely unimpressed with the CEO situation, but it is what it is

 

These things often look different in hindsight against the reality at the time. I think that while the current season has clearly been catastrophic from a recruitment perspective (leaving space in the salary cap is 101 out of the Julian Rhodes playbook), we’ve clearly been left scarred by the fallout from Rahic and the ensuing pressing of the reset button. Most of the stuff around this is window dressing.
