Works both ways as the area itself is possibly the worst slum area in the western world. Rats, rubbish, drugs, dangerous drivers. Suddenly Crawley or FGR look good options.

Your comments may be tongue in cheek, and you are entltled to them, but i find them very insulting. As someone who runs a business in the area ,pays their taxes in full and employs local people. The city has suffered from poor leadership and a lack of outward investment for decades. It is no different to most other places, the big money goes to Leeds , Manchester for their
city centres, but move just a short distance from those centres and you will find exactly the same as you find in Bradford.

Would go there at least once a month before the office closed there. Had to walk through the town from the station. Awful place.

Lots more violent crime in places like Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham etc but I always feel the worst areas of those places don’t seem as poverty stricken as the worst areas in Bradford.

I suppose my point is, if you don't like something, then do something about , don't just knock it.
If you want better things or services around you, you have to invest in them.
Is there no crime in other city's . Well my eldest daughter is a police sergeant and not in Bradford and the things she tells me .
I also have friends who live in Harrogate, which has a huge drug problem ( county lines). Everywhere has its problem's.

Drugs come from BD8 to Harrogate if you read the papers.

Yes i still live in Bradford. Born and bred and will die here . its not perfect and i am trying to do my bit to improve it.
Leeds council once offered us support to move the business there, as they had no one doing the work we do, well i am still here , bringing money from that city into ours. Its only small but every little bit helps.

Stevenage and all the “ new” London orbital downs are dumps.

The worst , which I know backwards………HARLOW, It’s just one Bradford type housing estate, akin to Ravenscliffe when I was in my youth ( I don’t know what it’s like now) boy is it an absolute characterless hole . The town centre is just concrete. Awful, awful.

    Not just Bradford mate .
Bradford was not even in the top 10 for major city's with drug and alcohol related crime. Middlesborough was at no 1.

I love Bradford but my view is the ground is situated in a dump. Not all Bradford is as disgusting as BD8.

We should all be proud of where we come from. Manningham was one of the finest area's in the country, let alone Bradford, but times change , the industry went and nothing took its place , jobs money and investment gone.

Not been to Leeds for many years but having to go to St James to visit the daughter as we went down the 621 I said to the wife when was the last time you saw one crane like those in Bradford there were 5 on the horizon, the biggest site house we passed was Elland Road ;).

You are correct Dave, Its no better around Elland road than Valley parade. Cranes are starting to go up in Bradford, Bradford live , one city park and the new market soon, but this is only local investment, mostly the council , very little from outside. Even the Conditioning house on Canal road was done by Priestley's , a firm fro Bradford, who now have plush new offices not far from Elland road. The government have taken the tax office jobs from this city and sent them to leeds and are promised new train station cancelled, so much for levelling up.

Middlesbrough is a total hell hole, makes Bradford look like Monaco, it’s only redeeming feature is it’s close to some nice costal towns nearby. I was to young to go to their old ground but I’ve heard stories it wasn’t the nicest place to visit!

As @Kevin1954@Kevin1954 said about Gillingham, when I walked through the terrace housing there it was like DFS were holding an open air sale with the amount of sofas there. Oliver came from there so he’ll probably feel in luxury here.

Most cities and towns are dumps outside the big four or five cities, even then outside the city centres they have some run down rough places. I parked at the estate behind Ethiad once, wasn’t even outside someone’s house but still had my tyres let down and walking through it at night wasn’t the most pleasant experience, it felt more dodgy than walking through Manningham which I’ve done many times without incident, obviously it’s a run down area with problems but many areas are in the austerity Britain and those at the top aren’t bothered about changing it, they probably like us plebs arguing about who’s areas the bigger dump.

Regarding the subject matter, the area of the ground won’t have any baring on if a player signs, funny enough he doesn’t have to live there. Romain Vincelot loved his time at the club and venturing into Harrogates wine bars. Players like Billy Clarke and Colin Doyle have settled even closer in the area.

I visited Ayresome park on a couple of occasions. Wow. In 88 season coming away from the ground after we beat them it was like Beirut. Was with my old man , who was one tough fella and a group of there yobbo's came towards us, dad knocked the lead guy out flat with one punch, the rest disappeared with that blow
