Wellens 1st job was at Oldham and he got sacked then Swindon hired him. Players need to look up to someone who's been there done that.

Plus a younger manager gives you time to build upstairs think Swindon got Jewell in as Sporting Director.

One of the problems I am trying to get my head around, and possibly one of the reasons Drury hasn't been let go yet, is when the new manager comes in - how does he know about the players he's taking on? Does he just base it on what he sees when he takes them for training, or does he have access to players records and notes (complied by who?). It's not like we're blessed with coaches and scouts to give him an update.

It does make you wonder if they have been considering it for a while and part of what happened during the transfer window (Doyle and Vaughan off the wage bill) was to finance this.

 

The easy bit is sacking the manager. Now comes the hard bit. No excuses this time. Got to be the right man. Maybe somebody on short term heavily incentivised to get us up.
