Nice fella, boring football.

 

Nothing personal, he seems like an honest, hard working bloke who wanted to do well. He won't be minted from his time in the game and whilst he'll get a pay out, he'll likely have a family and a mortgage. So I'm not 'celebrating'. But I'm glad its been done. It was the only choice we had, but I still didn't think we'd do it.

Onwards and upwards. Massive, massive choice now. My first pick would be Nathan Jones.

It had to be done.Not a cause for celebration more relief !
I don't want to celebrate a sacking and someone losing their
job but football is a harsh environment and that's the way it is.

Drury was not Bowyers man and hopefully the new manager
will bring in his own No 2 as we need a fresh start.

 

Whoever comes in now has a much better platform to build from than GB did.

You have to give GB some credit for the way he galvanised the club and seemed to have brought everyone together after last seasons debacle.

I actually like the guy but his football tactics have been proven to be stone age and easy to work out and counter.

We need a completely new backroom staff to finally get rid of any lingering stench from the ER era.

Well, I think it needed to be two weeks ago.

The end was Carlisle, it just needed to filter down, but unfortunately it's taken too long.

The window has closed, the two best strikers in the division have left, the new manager if he's more attacking would have surely got more out of them than Bowyer, and now instead he's inheriting some lumps from worse teams.

 

I’m genuinely gutted for Bowyer. He took on our club at possibly one of its lowest moments and managed to breath life back into what was looking a hopeless future. He always came across well and the way he connected to the club when he first started, learnt about our history, especially the fire and also the way he managed the Darby situation, endeared himself to me and probably many others.

I’ve really not enjoyed reading and hearing the chants for him to be sacked however I was at Crawley and it was simply horrible, and sounds as though Mansfield and Oldham were just as bad. Once the chants for his name got louder, there was no other outcome than this. I hope he finds a role somewhere else and it’s a more successful one.

As for the replacement, Stuart will be bring energy and a togetherness back to the club, but not sure it’s the answer.

I’d like to see Warnock come in and really shake things up, but only on a 18 month minimum contract. Failing Warnock, Nathan Jones from a long term POV. None of the above I would be disappointed in.

Big decision for the club. There’s a not a lot they’ve got right in the past few years, big moment for them to get us set up for the future if we want any chance of not getting stuck down here for years to come.

One thing I do always wonder, how does Robbie Fowler’s name always make it on these new manager odds lists?!?!?

Fair play to the powers that be, it is the correct decision although I did not expect them to make it..

No surprise but why the hell leave it until after the window closes that makes little sense to me.

 

People like @abbomf and @Park bantam couldn't seem to get this. Many fans wouldn't of renewed under Bowyer. People didn't like him and his football was utter dire.

I dont like to see anybody sacked. BowyerS got a family and I’m sure he tried his best.

The facts are though that the players weren’t responding after the Crawley and Mansfield disasters and the club really had little option.
It was time for a change.
