Even that doesn't sit well with me. Private, public, this must be a combined effort. When it comes to testing, footballers should be near the back of the queue in terms testing to resume work. They wont be though. Money will talk, as it always does

Mate, already happening though even at div 1 level. Hearing that some Pompy players got tested the other week.

Money talks. F1 is washed with cash and they will have loads of testing equipment already and even more in 2 months or so.

I'm just hoping standard companies can get hold of testing equipment easy also.

However, we need more general testing. This 100k target is key.

Got a lot time for you Fordy but I think at this moment in time YOU need to have a word with yourself.
I am still working full-time as my job is considered "essential" . My wife is 70 and I feel that I am putting her at risk with every shift I do.

I understand mate and I am not having a go at you for working but your situation will apply for everyone soon because most need to work or want to work.

Footballers want to play football and it's their job. You won't have to worry about football organisations or any sporting bodies as they will have all the equipment required.

We're 12/18 months away from a vaccine mate. The world is stopping to a degree but it's not going to for another 12 months or so and like it or not we will have to figure things out and get round situations. For example teachers could still be teaching kids now but online! Change is going to be the norm for people!

Oh and I have loads of time for you mate and I fully understand your concern at the minute but you have to try to stay with a positive mindset. If we can get to the 100k testing target by the end of the month the UK will be in a better position.

Hope so mate. I'm 63 next month and I've got two younger sisters who are nurses (the younger one is a district nurse who visits the elderly), so it's hard not to worry

    Firstly on a lighter note......
If the season does restart we should be in a great position to push up the league and nail a place in the playoffs, we’re so ahead of the game, our midfield and defence have been practicing social distancing for the last two seasons!
    On a negative note.....
Council emergency planning teams in the north of England are working “worst case” that deaths will peak sometime in June, the South East are expecting their peak mid to end May. They could be acting too cautiously of course however with the above in mind can’t see any football, behind closed doors or not happening much before July/ August probably more likely September.

I just hope they get the PPE and testing equipment they deserve mate.

Can't blame you for worrying but try to stay positive.

Mate, people will be back at work in June/July no matter what. We are not going to have a 5-6 month lockdown.

How am I thinking about now if I am talking about future events?

You must be knackered jumping to all those conclusions.

You talk as if you are the only person who is thinking about their circumstances.

    We all are.

Because everywhere is reporting about wanting more testing equipment and testing results back in say 15-20 mins.

In a few months talk of testing in the UK should be at a level in which we are not talking about NHS not having been tested or enough PPE.

We're throwing money at this and rightly so and will continue to do so.

Completely agree, the economy can’t cope with a long term lock down, however we will have a phased return and I fully expect those who can work from home will be encouraged to do so for the remainder of 2020. I do think that certain sectors of the economy will change forever and I can’t see non food retail surviving in its current form. I also can’t see football in any form starting back up pre-September

The football bit makes no sense though. In Germany its returning next month.

Sport will have better testing equipment than the general public.

You can't have say for example estate agents open and people allowed to look at new houses plus catch flights but no football!

You do understand why petrol stations are open and construction allowed to continue? Sport, housing, construction etc bring a lot of money to the economy mate and they will be back as quickly as possible.

The sector I work in is already changing, long term. And in my company we're already putting into place changes for more of our people to work from home regularly, travel less etc. We wont go back to how we were. Normal has changed.

And that's what forward thinking companies should be doing or they will get left behind.

Also those that don't spend on sales and marketing will be forgotten.

Hancock has just said the meetings he has still take place but people sat 2 meters apart. So look offices will be open but guidelines will have to be followed.

Normal has changed. People will need to be able to solve problems and get round this virus to get the results required in their job.

I believe football will change as well. If the season re starts I suspect it will be around mid August time.

Fordy.....how do you know football is going to start in Germany??
It was said earlier in the thread, it’s light at the end of the tunnel stuff! Ryan air are selling flights to Europe in May, A certain Mr Trump says we’ll be over the worst by end of Easter.
Germany are talking about re-starting the league as Belgium cancel theirs completely!! We’re in uncharted territory no one knows when we will come out of this, the only certainty is just like the last pandemic in 1918 we will eventually overcome this, just don’t get your optimism about football starting anytime soon!

    German clubs return to training

Behind Closed doors games plan for 9th of May
    https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/en.as.com/en/2020/04/10/football/1586506397_841377.amp.ht

The Belgium league hasn't been cancelled! They've overturned that decision.

Trump didn't say Easter but now said up and running by the summer.

Bottom line is mate unless you want to be living on the streets begging then we will all have to generate money and I don't care how rich you are but economically it's impossible to continue this lockdown for another 3-6 months. So let's stay at home and hope that extra hospitals can be built with increased testing available as this is what this lockdown is about.

Oh but he did say Easter. Are you a Trump apologist now? Didn't you say he and BOJO were scoring points off each other?

    Which camp are you in?
