My Dad said the same to me 35 years ago. It’s a shame because without well paid jobs skilled people won’t stay in the area, and without highly skilled people you won’t get well paid jobs.

A fixed lease and success on the field means we pay more. That’s how it’s always worked hasnt it?

Maybe my words can be misinterpreted …apologies.

Hallelujah ….. Very true and how this comes as a shock to anyone is mind boggling. It’s been posted on here dozens of times , but people still believe VP has a great deal of value.

I didn’t think you were questioning me at all. The rest fair enough, perhaps I shouldn’t mix some up with the booers which didn’t happen in the old days and will remain a pet hate of mine until I roll over.

Agreed, never boo'd never will, even if the performance is (as it has been) terrible. Just doesn't seem right to me, and I cant see how it helps the players.

The last lease certainly did. However it is not a forgone conclusion the next lease will be the same. I don’t trust Sparks and Rupp to get the best possible deal. It was loaded onto the backend of the lease that we pay more. That is why it is costing this much.

Both parties have no option but to agree an amicable deal. Remember it’s worth peanuts to the pension fund if City vacate, likewise we are stuffed without it .

The only people that have any real value to the stadium are the fans and that is emotional and not hard cash.
Unfortunately with live in a world where profit and greed are king.
The pension fund will have had a £10 million return on their £2.5 million investment over the lease term, with a greater return to come from the extension, as it has built in increments.
Yes Gibb's lot might have taken a risk initially, but they have reaped the rewards since.

Massive gaffe by JR not agreeing a buyback clause. Priority should be to purchase the stadium rather than pay rent. Better paying 500k pa towards the mortgage/loan.

I doubt at the timer of the second administration the offer of a buy back was on the table, and thinking about it why would there be, Julian screwed the guy and there was no love lost between the two, but credit to Ryan for getting Gibb involved as that would never have happened whilst Julian was at Valley Parade in any sort of capacity.

I don't disagree with you at all. Increasing season ticket prices would be a big gamble. But what other choices do we have?

Right now we have an owner who's #1 priority is for the club to be sustainable and fund itself. And we have a CEO who is delivering that mandate. It's easy to just say 'Sparks Out' as the solution, but I can't see Rupp getting rid of Sparks. Sparks is delivering what Rupp has asked.

Our only hope is we get bought by someone willing to invest and restructure the club leadership, but that could take years.

So we can even either tread water in L2 waiting for a new owner to step in, or try and make some changes working with the existing ownership/leadership model.

I'm not sure fans would respond that negatively to a message of "We're increasing season ticket prices by £50-£100, but 100% of the money will go into player budgets"

And if we keep lower season ticket prices and attendances drop anyway then we might find ourselves in a much worse position. We're currently 18th with a top 7 budget. I dread to think what we would look like with a mid-table budget.

Good god, surely they will go bankrupt sooner rather than later, over £76,000 per week loses is sheer madness.
