Barnsley (H) - August 11th

With Moore and Bradshaw up front our defence are going to have their work cut out for them. Two difficult fixtures to start the season with but we put the Shrews to the sword now it's Barnsley's turn. Onwards and upwards. CTID

Sounds like us last season, some games were nearer 10,000 than 20,000 at VP.

 

I never wish or want us to lose. Never!!

 

Great start and they missed a couple of chances as did we. Main thing is a win and a good confidence builder for the lads to help the new team, management and strategy bond.

Lots of worry about ownership during our collapse last season, but if this new approach works, then they were right and we will all enjoy the ride. If we collapse again then they need to sell, but that is a bit defeatist.

Great start, Barnsley will be as tough as they always are but if we really get behind our team we can get a result, especially at the Valley.

Much to look forwards to and much to support.

Bradshaw subject to a bid from Milwall. Could be gone by weekend. They still carry a threat otherwise.

 

just have to hope they don't manage to get in a good replacement by the weeekend

 

A lot of the goals they scored second half last season came from Mcburnie and More hasn't been prolific

 

MC said after the Shrews game that each team will be picked based on the opposition and the whole squad will be utilised where needed.

 

I’d say 4 in your first game of the season is prolific to start with. Barnsley would had scored a couple of goals against us in the first half against Shrewsbury, they were a good side first half but couldn’t finish the good work of Whalley. Barnsley won’t afford us the same gratuity.

 

What if we wanted just a single point for promotion against Wimbledon on the last day of the season?

 

Hope the players embrace the superb VP atmosphere im expecting and put in a good performance, 2-1. Scannell & Doyle. Pinnock for them.

 

3-1 to city in this one. Can really see us turn on the style. Yes Barnsley are good but hey let’s be positive. We are gunna have a great afternoon. Doyle 2 and Payne to score. 18500 crowd.

 

Barnsley won 4-0 but Robinson slated his Oxford side saying that was one of the worst performances he's seen from one of his teams as a manager. They didn't turn up at all and made Barnsley look like world beaters. Oxford never closed them down and let Barnsley dictate the pace of the game which resulted in giving Thaim the space to score 2 long range shots which were identical. If a player scores from distance you make sure he can't do it again , but they just backed off and invited him to shoot again. If we bring the fight to them from the off then I can see us winning but if we invite them to dictate the game like Oxford then we will be in for a long day.
