Away trip to Stevenage next, they are 2 places and 2 points below us and have been somewhere round abouts where we've been all season (first towards the bottom, now climbing towards the top). They have played two more games than us, though, so only have another 7 left.

Stevenage have won their last 3 games, and have only lost 1 game out of the last 14 (winning 7).

In their last 14 games, they have kept 9 clean sheets.

They also made easy work of Forest Green, beating them 3-0.

    Tough, tough game.

Yeah, nervous about this one, I'd feel so much more confident if we still had their ex-goal machine Guthrie leading the line instead of Cook. :innocent:

Let’s put some of this in tables, as there will be some who expect us to walk it!

In our last four away games we have lost 3 and won a single game!

@Fordy117@Fordy117 will be along any minute to tell it's "just Stevenage" and we "shouldn't fear anyone"!

It’ll be a cold day in hell before we go into a game with Stevenage and aren’t looking to win it.

fair enough their recent form is good but we’ve nilled Cambridge and beaten Tranmere and Cheltenham on our travels under Trueman and Sellars. All are better teams than Stevenage.

freshen the pack if needed, and we go again. We have better footballers. Go for it.

If Sutton is fit for Monday I would play him and move o Conner back to fullback , Leaving rest of side as it is , but for Grimsby would play Vernam or Crankshaw for scales out wide

It might be controversial but our best strategy might actually be to avoid losing this game. We have 9 games left, Stevenage have 7. If we draw then they'll need six wins in a row to even have a chance of making the playoffs. We could literally take them out of the picture by drawing. I'm not saying we should just sit back but sometimes you have to pick your fights.

    We just panned FGR 4-1.

Exactly, I say, exactly the same line up on Monday.

Stevenage are on an 11 game run without a defeat after today's 1-0 victory over Oldham.
Plenty at stake for both sides going into this encounter looking forward to what should be an entertaining game.
Shame we can't be there to cheer the lads on.
We would have filled the away end I'm sure.

Taking Stevenage 'out of the picture' is a non-starter. Look at the table - if we see Stevenage as a play-off threat then we might as well call it a day. There are plenty of better teams that will get a play-off place before Stevenage do.

So on their current form, they either win all their games or maybe they draw one and win the rest.

I don't see on that basis how they're 'out'.

    Care to explain?

I'm glad they're on a good run with an outside chance of getting a play-off place, we play much, much better against teams who try and take it to us. Think we'll nick a scrappy win here but then struggle to break Grimsby down

No no no. Stevenage aren't getting in the playoffs, we go to win or we don't go at all.

Possible but on current form they are the second best team in the league it’s going to be a tough game

    Why??
On current form they ARE getting to the playoffs, their squad, budget, lack of history, tinpot ground, none of it matters, we really need to stop the we’ve got more fans than you nonsense.
What matters is current form, they will walk onto the pitch EXPECTING to beat us, this is a massive, massive game in terms of our season.
I’d put money on at least one of City, Orient or Stevenage will make the playoffs possibly two of the three. Of course we need to go for the win, playing for a draw is a ridiculous mindset. However I certainly would take point from this game!!

That's how i think T and S will be looking at it.
On the flip side though they are going to have to win so will be going all guns blazing so could play into our counter attacking hands.

    Just seen this.

Yes, we should be expecting 3 points here. Nothing to fear.
