I just don’t see us creat the same type of chances I am seeing Doyle score. Or, is Doyle creating the space to allow him to score the goals he is getting?

Letting Doyle go to a fellow League 2 promotion rival will cost us promotion

for those clever Alex’s, I said this from the day he left us.

How can that possibly cost us promotion?

The worst it can possibly do is ensure Swindon finish top, above us.

The rest has absolutely nothing to do with Swindon or Eoin Doyle.

    It's a factual impossibility.

If you're referring to Doyle leaving us making us significantly weaker, I suggest you go watch some of the dreadful performances he put in in a Claret and Amber shirt. If you can point me to a single thing that suggests he'd have been scoring goals for us this season, I'd love to see it. He was awful.

Better side won today, we need to now get over our lethargy up front.

We're better than most of the sides in L2, and will win the majority of games, especially at home, but we have been far from convincing since Clayton became injured - and he was starting to get criticism for missing glaring opportunities.

We need to improve our finishing, but the way our chances fall, I'm less looking at Vaughan and more looking at Pritchard, Ismail and Connolly - with Dylan in particular looking absolutely useless in front of goal.

Don't get me wrong, Connolly has been the most exciting newcomer in the team, and his pace is immense - he can do a lot in terms of breaks, turning defence into attack, etc, but his final ball and finishing is shocking.

Anyone wondering why he's on loan at a League Two club - that's your answer.

He reminds me of Kyle Reid Connolly, and I said this at the start when people were getting excited, he doesn’t have any end product what so ever. I think he should be in the team like I thought Reid should, as their pace is invaluable at times to get us up this pitch but he won’t be providing the bullets for our strikers. Same with Ismail, a few said a few weeks ago Vaughan should be banging them in with these supplying him I honestly can’t remember him missing any real chances, he only gets half chances what he creates for himself. Doyle in this team this season would be on less than Vaughan’s 5, and Vaughan would be on far more than 5 in Swindon’s team I’m confident of it. As you say we need to sort up front out. Bowyers done well sorting our shambles of a defense our from last season, but the attack is far from the finished article.

All that matters and what makes the difference is end product and delivery. Simply this, the only qualities that count.

Weve been far from convincing all season. Many of our wins have been through fine margins. From memory, the only game where I thought we looked properly decent was Swindon, and they were without their main man.

Connolly is quick, but that's it. Ismail has a problem with consistency and being able to play 90 mins every week.

Our attacking play is a worry to me. We have little fluency and out whole game plan seems based on grinding results out. With the budget Bowyer has bee given, we should be seeing much more. There looks to be a lack of real coaching going on.

I have zero intention of watching League 2 football next season. Its soul destroying. Unless we shape up and conduct ourselves like a properly ambitious a d capable club, soon, I think more fans will drift away.

Agree that our finishing is woeful but, as I have posted on numerous threads, who on our coaching / management team played as a striker ?
We simply need a decent coach to "coach" our strikers.
It's beyond me that we have a goalkeeping coach for 3 players and nobody for 5 + players ( including attacking midfielders ).

There's definitely a lack of cohesion upfront. Donaldson is a big loss and the system doesn't seem to work anywhere near as well with Vaughan upfront. Your right about our options, Connolly is quick but is all in a straight line, Ismail is a one in five kinda player, our best outlet for chances is still the bloody left back. Vaughan looks defeated body language wise and Oteh is not a wide player, he needs to be alongside another striker to get the best use out of him. And i'm fully with on the league 2 scenario, we drop out of the playoffs and it could be a struggle to get back in and i have little to no appetite to watch another season of it.

We will struggle to score goals with the formation he prefers, It makes it hard for forwards to get the correct supply and separates them in to single units instead as an attacking force, 4-4-2 is the best option with the players we have bearing in mind we lack a tall bustling centre forward who is good in the air and can hold the ball up not flick it on to a defender waiting for it knowing it is coming,
GB is good with the players and they like him but his safety first football is not only boring to watch but becoming ineffective.

It's not the formation, it's the style.

I watch other highlights of teams scoring goals, and they get 4, 5, 6 bodies into the box.

    We have Vaughan.

    100% this.

Vaughan isn't in the box when it matters as well. He in midfield somewhere.

I will raise you Ben Muirhead. Had a look at the career stats. Reid on 0.07 goals per match whereas Muirhead was 0.04!
All of them have lots of pace and promise, but no healthy chip in with goals, say 5+ a season.

We all know Drury should be Bowyer's number 2!

Bowyer needs reall support because he's too negative and worries too much.

It could be a costly mistake keeping Drury

We could have had Warnock years ago. He was in the frame and supporters made it clear on the terraces and in letters to the editor etc they did not want him - because of his then recent Huddersfield connections.

Since then he’s become the most successful championship manager of all time promotion wise and is now a rich old man who could walk into the next championship job which comes along, but I’m sure he’s retiring anyway.

You have to be deluded if you think we could get him.

Atrocious display for the entire first half, and for the last 15/20 mins of the second half. Another absolutely baffling decision by Bowyer to replace Akpan with Devine. Akpan was actually doing well before being hooked for a totally anonymous Devine. Despite his good displays this season, O'Donnell was 100% at fault for their second (and ultimately the winner) and should not have dicked about with the ball. The Reeves and Taylor situation is also bemusing

We must get it right at Macclesfield

You’re right, the opportunity will not come again. Even if he did come, at his age he would not be right for the job. In any case there is no vacancy to fill. You can’t sack a manager whose team is in the top six with two games in hand. We will see what Bowyer achieves in the next window now that it is crystal clear where the weaknesses lie.
