I agree. We need a quality winger/wide forward and a quality, pacy centre forward. I’d actually take Hiwula, he’d offer something different and he does bring a bit of pace.

 

I'd be over the moon with Hiwula at this point, certainly that mold of player needed

 

It would probably the least exotic/enigmatic Summer of all time if Hiwula rounded out our signings.

Yeah I get you! haha. And over the moon is probably overstating it but I'm worried enough about lacking a player like him, knowing exactly what he brings to the table would be comforting enough in it's way. A young premier league / championship loan is more of a gamble

 

One last thing on the game tonight, whilst we lacked anything going forward, I thought the team were extremely well drilled defensively in a way I don't think many, probably myself included, thought McCall was necessarily capable of. I think we will concede a lot on the counter, but that will be the nature of the beast of the way we play, but I'm more confident now of being able to see out a game we're winning, or grind out a result against an obviously better team, than I would have been before the last two games

 

Fordy was asking why people would waste £10 on the game. I paid £10 and it was money well spent. It gave me an opportunity to see the game, see the players, and make an informed opinion on the game, rather than moaning and criticising without having seen it.

So first of all, it was just good to watch a game of football on an evening, something a bit more “normal” to do after the last few months of lockdown and what have you.

Secondly it was great to see some of the younger players - none of them disgraced themselves, they were all very good. I can’t say whether any were better or worse than any others, they all impressed in their own ways. Connor Shanks probably edged it for me, and Sikora was great at the back.

Conversely the worst players were the experienced pros Donaldson and Pritchard. Although to be fair to Pritchard he seemed to give himself a kick up the backside and had a good last 20 mins. Donaldson was shocking. He looked 10 yards off the pace.

Longridge did alright but won’t dislodge Connor Wood on that performance alone. French didn’t do much after coming on. Sutton looked like he will be a useful addition.

Overall, a pleasing night’s football, by all accounts against a strong Donny side (don’t know much about their team), and where it was an opportunity as a fan to learn a bit more about our team, tactics and playing style and tempo. Most definitely not £10 wasted.

 

Game was mickey..Win, lose or draw it meant nothing.

Season starts on Saturday. Save your money for away days.

Donaldson is only here because his contract worked in his favour. He's done. Finished. Might be decent coming off the bench for 10 mins but if Guthrie is ahead of you then you know you are in trouble.

Harry isn't good enough. Bowyers mate and can play a part.

Where was Ismil? Out again..becoming as bad as Reeves him?

Bottom line is we need 2-3 more players. Sutton isn't good enough but can do a job.
