I didn’t watch the game however a 0-0 draw against a team in a higher division where we played a team that had four academy players in? Sounds good to me. It’s a shame to lose on penalties but that will be some valuable experience for the young lads as well as some much needed minutes under the belts of those not involved on Saturday.

Ismael was out because of the covid regulations. Had a slight sore throat and cough so club sent him for a test. Result didn't come back till 6pm so it was too late.

After watching the penalties afterwards, it seems to me that Hornby needs extra training when facing pens!
He seemed to commit before the taker even kicks the ball, making it relatively easy to score the pen.
If he waited just half a second before diving, bet he would save more!!

 

It does look like the penalty crosses the line. Anyway it doesn’t matter, much needed game time and experience for the players, that’s the main thing.

Interesting that he spoke quite a bit about changing the formation when he saw the Donny team sheet to make us more solid. Credit where its due it worked last night against a full strength lg 1 team

 

my view on last nights game.

Excellent performance overall, very impressed with discipline in defence and general fitness of squad.

Thought sutton and pritchard did well, sutton especially seen as he hasn't played much.

very encouraging signs from youngsters especially sikora and shanks. But the other three lads I've seen last 2 games also impressive.

Hornby def not challenging ROD, however did make an excellent recovery save after his own error.

If we can keep the energy and belief in stuarts gameplan for the season could surprise a few ppl.

new striker is a must, need some pace up top. All 3 strikers we have similar style but varying levels of quality....
