Were they good saves or poor penalties ?.

 

Well done to the youngsters, Donaldson was the worst player on the pitch and Pritchard wasn’t much better tbh. Needed their experience to help the youngsters out more at times, but the fought hard against a good league one side. Leeds and Villa youngsters showed it’s not easy lol.

Obviously Sutton not played too much recently so a little off the pace on the ball but I liked him. He offered bite and energy in midfield and won the ball back in good areas, looking forward to seeing more of him!

 

Not much point winning it back and then giving it away straight away.

 

Pritchard's was a save. Didn't sound well hit. Longridge hit the bar and the ball came down but on the line not over. We only took three. Guthrie hit the first into the top corner. Sounded a strong penalty.

 

Donaldinho was so off the pace of the game. Think we need another up top and maybe a winger and RB

 

I bet Stuart thought the young lads that played tonight were 'terrific'.

Compared with the shite we had to endure over the last 2 seasons I would agree.

 

Who'd of thought it? He wasn't that bad for someone who hasn't played in months. Had our best chance of the game too....

 

I thought Jorge Sikora was excellent tonight at centre half, MOTM by a long way for me

 

Thought the young lads did well today... Sikora probably our man of the match, looked strong and comfortable on the ball. Made some great passes and the one time he carelessly gave it away he covered a lot of ground to win the tackle in our box. Good in the air too. Expecially given his age he could go on to be a very good player.

Cousin-Dawson looked solid at right back, barely put a foot wrong without being spectacular.

Shanks and Scales showed a lot of energy without really doing much in the match, those sort of players academies churn out these days who keep the ball well but are a bit small but don't really seem to have that bit extra. That said, they're only very young against an experienced side in their first starts. Very willing to give them the next couple of years to develop

 

Sutton I thought had a very good game, though apart from his first pass which was a blinder he gave the ball away too much. That said, in a normal game he won't be the one expected to be making those incisive forward passes. Defended very well and was still putting strong challenges in in the 92nd minute, could well be one to break things up in midfield when needed, which is relieving given we seemed to be lacking in that area.

Importantly, he seemed to be 2 / 3 stages in development ahead of Devine, who some were comparing him to

 

Is he related to that “Positive professor” bloke?

 

Agreed, think we might have a player on our hands there

I think on the basis of the last two games we shouldn't be worrying too much about defence or right back and should be heavily focusing on getting some pace into the team up front and on the wings. Probably two strikers needed given it seems, as much as I didn't want it to be true, Donaldson seems fit for the knacker's yard
