There's no desperation on my part. Our Chief Executive has said promotion is the aim.
2 wins in the last 15 games is not promotion form.
3 games in November. Let's see how those go. Feels like we need at least 6 points.

He plays an attacking role yet fails to offer any influence going forward. His work rate is reasonable but he lacks the physical presence or intent to break up the play and he doesn't offer us blistering pace on a counter attack.
He's played the full season pretty much and has the same attacking contributions as the much derided Gareth Evans despite playing twice as many games.
We've had injuries so there's possibly (if I'm being very generous) a reasoning there but now players are coming back surely his place is under severe threat.Bumblebee_Tuna, Inspector and bailiff bridge bantam like this. -

we all saw what happened after that run.
xG over a few games does show where a team should be. I bet you anything if our xG stays as high as it is we will end up in the playoffs.Gardscoigne, borderlescott and Bumblebee_Tuna like this. -

His main attribute is he's neat and tidy and doesn't often give away possession - but I agree, for a key attacker, he's very ineffective. He tends to give the ball to the full back or central midfield than actually cross, shoot or take a defender on. This isn't always the wrong option, as it helps us retain possession, but I'm struggling to think of many goals that came from this - whether it's the right back crossing instead of him, or whether it's a ball popped in by Watt or Sutton.Gardscoigne, vladimir and Smartmart like this. -

Robinson should be up for this against the club who discarded him.
I agree, a point would be a good result for us, but don't tell FordyBronco and 1975citygent like this. -

In honesty, its a much of a muchness again with City in that we are failing again under Rupp.
Going to Vale hoping for a point, just feels very uninspiring. The Evidence and bantamlad92 like this. -
Forget that it is Port Vale, the fact is they are second in the table.
Port Vale’s home form is P:7 W:4 D:2 L:1 GF:13 GA:6 GD+7 Pts14.
Our way form is P: 7 W:2 D:2 L:3 GF:7 GA:8 GD-1 Pts 8.
We are 15th in the table on our away form!
At the start of the season, expecting nothing but a win, is reasonable, but the evidence is set out above.
Based on our respective performances, then a draw at Port Vale, would be reasonable. A win would be excellent. Your comment about going in with ‘hope’ is from the heart and is what we all want. But if we end up with a draw, then it is a decent result.
Where we are failing, is with our inability to win at home. That is what is costing us points, and holding us back.Hampshire Bantam and Damo like this. -
And previously in 1961 - we beat Colchester 4-1 on Boxing Day (city played really well that day) only to lose the return away match 4 days later 9-1. I think we had lost a match heavily prior to these matches and we also lost to Arsenal in the Cup soon after. Happy days!CRASS and JonButterfield like this. -

What a start to the season it was for McCarthy, though -- by match 10 (2nd Oct.) in the league he'd scored 10 league goals, and added another 7 in the first 3 League Cup matches! And then in December he was sold to Oldham...Grump!

Prior to kick-off in tomorrow’s televised Sky Bet League Two game against Bradford City a short Remembrance service will take place ahead of Remembrance Sunday (Nov 14).
We invite all supporters to take part in the service and ask that they be at their seats no later than 11.50am.
Timings for our Remembrance service are as follows:
11.52pm – Officials, players and our remembrance party assemble at the head of the tunnel
11.53pm – Referee leads players on to the field. Players will do their normal ‘pass-by’ of each other and then proceed to the centre circle and form up. At this point the Remembrance party will take to the field carrying wreaths and head to the far side of the centre circle, facing the Lorne Street stand. The two captains will lay wreaths either side of the centre spot followed by the Port Vale Chair and Bradford CEO Ryan Sparks laying their wreaths similarly around the centre spot. The Remembrance party will then return to join the officials.
11.55pm – Referee blows whistle and Last Post is sounded.
11.56pm – Port Vale Chaplain Reverend Ashley Cooper reads the Words of Remembrance and prompts the minute’s silence.
11.57pm – One minute’s silence.
11.58pm – Referee blows whistle to end ceremony and signal a round of applause from crowd. Remembrance party leaves the pitch.Stoneski and Botswana Bantam like this. -

Hopefully that continues because it was only a few weeks ago that we were terrified of losing Andy Cook to an injury, but we have a some reliable options now that he has. Would be interesting to see more of Robinson & Angol together.Allotment Bantam and Tony Wilkinson like this.
