Is rugby played on it too?

 

Just had a quick look and yeah not great at all.

 

Newport are set to apply to the Football league for permission to play their home games elsewhere.

 

EFL meeting on Thursday to discuss Newports request.

 

Surely the request will be refused. If granted it could open a complete bag of worms for future occasions. Weather is improving now (hopefully) so they should be able to get through the season and then it is up to them to get it sorted in the summer. The RU team also play at the stadium, I wonder who actually is responsible for the upkeep? Or is it owned by the Council and rented out to both clubs?

 

There are prescedents,Harrogate played at Doncasters ground early season,whilst their pitch was relayed,and its happened a few times this season in the National leagues,Altringham recently played at Fc United of Manchester when their pitch was unfit.

 

We ourselves played at Elland Rd, Huddersfield and Odsal while ground rebuilt

 

Blimey Trevor, that was a bit different to requesting to play elsewhere because their pitch is a bit muddy

 

That’s a damn world of difference BH!

 

Newport’s pitch is a disgrace, as is Peterborough’s even by our low standards in recent years.

I hope they do move for our game, it won’t be great playing on such a poor heavy pitch when we’re having to play Saturday/Tuesday every week.

 

Surely it's in our interest to not play our match on a bog?!

Tell Flynny he can bring his team to play the reverse fixture at Valley Parade, there is little matter of a 3-0 defeat to rectify.

 

Given the relatively poor pitches we've had to endure in the last few weeks, it would be in our favour to get the game moved.
Whilst part of Newport's current poor form can be attributed to the poor playing surface at Rodney Parade, I think the biggest issue was losing something like 5/6(?) regular first team loan players who were recalled by their respective clubs in the January window.

 

There really should be a minimum standard for acceptable playing surface, for a professional club. And if you can't meet that standard for any given game (excluding extreme weather) then the game should be relocated to the opponents ground.

 

And if they aren't happy with that, they can just agree to hand us the 3 points and save themselves a journey.
