Match Thread Away v Newport, Sat 09th October @3.00pm (On I-Follow)

Whether we like it or not there's no way a draw at Newport is a bad result Newport have a good home record and we have lost our last three away games in the league in fact Newport had the best home form in the division last season and this year they've only lost once at home in the league

Win at home draw away especially at the teams in the top half and you'll be fine

With two back to back clean sheets I personally think we should be happy with that outcome myself and I think it looks like we're finally back on track after a bad period of form

Now we have two games at home in a row Bristol Rovers and Hartlepool and both are very winnable if we can get six points from those two we will be in or around the top three

It's a bit scruffy at the moment but no way can anyone say the last two results have been bad with a straight face like it or not they're good results

 

That was just a bang average game of league 2 football. Very hard to get enthusiastic watching that.

 

A good point today if we follow it up with two good home performances. Playing Songo at the back seems to be working. When Canavan is fit play him in front of Paudie and him should really tighten us up. But two clean sheets not bad

 

I thought we played some nice stuff, first half. I enjoyed watching that. Second half was poor though

 

This was a good point gained no matter what some may say, The players worked their socks off and deserved the point

There's just something missing that sends me to sleep watching them. Probably the tempo we play at, it's like watching the cast of Cocoon at times.

A great clearance off the line and an incredible miss.

We just look limited and short of quality in the final third of the pitch. Possibly being harsh, but it felt we the made the wrong choices in the majority of situations when we had opportunities to threaten their goal. Not having the confidence to shoot and not being able to hit our own players when crossing the ball look glaring issues that need resolving rapidly, if we are to mount any sort of challenge this season.

 

Thought it was a decent watch by league 2 standard, both teams look mid table which isn’t a surprise after the first 10 games I saw. Decent enough point.

 

It's only a good point , if you can back it up with a home win next time out

I know what you mean. Even in the first half, where I thought our approach play was good, I was never confident of a goal. We just lack anything resembling ruthlessness or being clinical.

 

That was God awful. At the present I can't see the tunnel, never mind the light.

 

I thought Newport were decent second half. Created enough chances to win and had us on the ropes (mainly due to our poor play)

 

First half was decent enough but the second half was terrible. Switch to a 442 just didn't work at all and we lost any control of the game. Gilliead absolutely woeful yet again.

Lets wait until we hear Adams comments Vernah might have been feeling a little niggle, that could be why he subbed him, which makes sense.
We showed little going forward and that includes Verrnam sorry he offered little today, a good point at Newport and another clean sheet, and at times we got lucky but you get nowt for missing sitters, as their lad did with that header.

 

No it wasn’t. We battled well, and would have folded in previous seasons. It was a decent away point. We’d have taken that all day long before hand.
