There are too many habitual losers in today's team. When that first goal went in there were no recriminations or complaints from team mates.

 

We're going to need cheap squad players so we can spend more on other players.

Sutton and Hendrie are likely as cheap as you'll get for experienced cover - at least they should be, if we're not utterly stupid. Neither were wanted at very poor clubs, and yet both have shown that they are okay.

Do we need better? Of course we do. But do we also need players who can come on and do a job if necessary? Also, yes.

I'd keep them both.

 

Yep. Ditto Tom Elliott as well as Robinson. All 'players who had something to prove' and then didn't have either the motivation or the desire to do it at VP. Another day, another dollar, ho hum.

Also, we have been playing well, and we STILL haven't been winning. There's no way to fault the character, effort or desire of the players, but they are not good enough to win four straight.

This is football. Playing well does not guarantee victories, it's not that simple. It just increases your chances, but then you've to factor in incompetent officials, bad luck, injuries, the opposition, and the rest.

Sounds obvious, but that's why it's silly to predict win streaks and title victories unless you know you have the best manager, best players, best tactics, best luck, best run of games, and all the rest.

People will probably get silly in the Summer if we sign a few tasty players. 7th remains the minimum target, though, just as it was this season. Not first, not second, but seventh.

If we win two of the next four, that will be a fantastic achievement. Dreaming of winning all four doesn't achieve anything except the setting of unrealistic expectations.

 

That’s the only effective one. I commented on the day how poor Hendrie’s control and crossing was dire before our goal and Ridehalgh isn’t the Ridehalgh before his injury. They got up and down well , absolutely, it was just a poor end product….other than the goal.

 

To be fair it was the only one he got right.

 

I’m not bothered by this tbh, we don’t want performances or results papering over the cracks for these players. If it helps never see some of these in claret and amber again then bring on a thrashing.

 

If there’s a sliver of a silver lining…… Friday showed us a group of players with the right attitude and a hint of the right ability.

Today showed us a group that looked completely disinterested and not good enough.

OK, that’s over simplifying, because Cook shouldn’t be kept around and big question marks hang over Paudie, but Hughes will be learning plenty.

Come the summer, he’ll know exactly what’s needed. Whether he’ll be backed to recruit what’s needed is an altogether different story.

 

oh well, at least we are mathematically safe from relegation now!

Hughes owned up in the post match interview that he made a mistake in making so many changes and wouldn't do it again.

Well, I hope he makes 6 changes again on Saturday and go back to the team that started Friday, apart from Paudie of course

 

This is actually our best result of the season if it convinces Hughes we need a clean sweep - which we all know we do. Far too much underachieving crap that flatters to deceive

 

This group of players deserve no support

Time and time again this season they've put in absolute joke performances

Hughes can cone out and say that is not the normal today. Sorry but that is the normal for this squad of players dreadful performances are not far away

They are not playing like they were when he first arrived. They've resumed normal service

 

Sutton is not good enough and should be shown the door like most of them

 

Isn't Evans out of contract too?. If so, an easy decision to get rid

 

I am sure MH said that he had made most of his decisions and the players will find out soon enough. Maybe on the bus on the way home?
Like has been said earlier it is almost a great result and this tragically pi$$ poor performance has nailed some coffin lids firmly shut today.

 

Glad my dissertation is due tomorrow so I totally missed out on todays performance. Would be happy if we let everyone go and let MH build an entirely new team in the summer bar the youngsters. We back these guys in numbers every single game and get almost nothing back, it's actually quite insulting after a while.

 

Yer, i tend to agree. Decent enough players who will usually come in and do a job if needed. Need some decent pro's in the squad and we cant/won't be signing 22 new players!
