It was a very brave decision resting Watt and moving Aoc to midfield I think we looked better when we changed back I thought FCD struggled a bit. It’s a big pity that Hosannah hasn’t been available I think the team would be better balanced

I’m pleased it wasn’t,I hate 3 at the back, leaves us so exposed down the wings. Fortunately as Trueman confirmed post match it was exactly the same formation as normal with just a few changes in personnel.

FCD looks a far better player when he's got someone in front of him will to track back and help him out. Clarke did this prior to his injury. When he was injured FCD was hung out to dry at Exeter and today he struggled without the level of support he got from Clarke.

I realise that now. Which really makes it a bit depressing that they're still sticking to their system. I thought they'd been a bit more imaginative but I'd got it all wrong.

In my defence I was juggling watching the match, checking the racing results and doing a crossword.

He looked fresh and benefitted from playing deeper where he doesn't need to run as much and could get on the ball more.

Why it’s a system they believe in and has been considerably more effective than anything else we have tried lately. They do right to stick with it to see where it leads for the rest of the season and then bring in players in the summer to make it work better

    Agreed.

There isn't a perfect formation or set of tactics, but implementing something that is modern and popular makes a lot of sense from both a continuity POV as well as a recruitment strategy.

    Definitely stick with it.

Well I suppose when you’ve taken 38 points from just 20 games you tend to stick with what has been working for them. To be fair they do alter during games, at Scunthorpe when 2-0 down they did switch to 3-5-2

What yesterday showed as much as anything was that there is need to better balance rotating the team and getting fresh legs in versus the theory of not changing a winning team. Sutton looked better yesterday but has appeared jaded. Watt must be tired hence he didn't start.

    This isn't really true.

This season is like no other and many said we need a competitive squad in the summer because of the amount of games. In a normal year we could get away with things.

Next season things should be back to normal and they won't be as many Saturday- mid week- Saturday games back to back.

Yes, possibly and perhaps they'd argue Pritchard might play in there but got injured. I'm not convinced he would though. We seem 1 short in that central area where Watt/Sutton play.

Watt has played too many games and Sutton was injured a bit at the start of the season.

Pritchard isn't good enough. The central midfield area just lacked competition. I think McCall though Cooke could play there if required

As much as I think Watt and Sutton deserve a bit of praise I do think its one of our weakest areas. We need better than both.

Yes, based on yesterday's performance he is the best replacement for Cooke we have found so far.
