Funny you say that about Sutton as I am thinking for us to move from a midtable team to automatic we vastly need to improve our midfield or at least have competition in it.

 

I think he's a very good player but very few centre mids can play so much football as him and watt have this season. Competition/support for them is a priority in the summer imo.

 

Still looked a 4231 to me....

 

If this goes tits up, a few questions will be asked.

This is it. Hornby is so much stronger in owning his area. Everytime a cross comes in we look weak and I didn’t feel like that when Hornby played, but we all know it was about weakness for the past two seasons. Sorry, but OD does not deserve the shirt right now.

Donaldson has been our best attacking player with his long throws and two cracking crosses there.

 

Not to mention the way he has retained possession and cleverly made space to bring in others. His close control and turning in tight situations has been excellent today. He looks much better as a no.
10 than as a target man.

 

This team ain't good enough for the playoffs.

 

Really happy that Scales is 1st team quality

 

so apart from scoring, twatting the crossbar and taking a yellow card for the team, how did the young lad Scales do?

 

Good to stop the rot. Donaldson man of the match for me, plus Scales should start the next game as well.

Other than that dull game and still waiting to see performances improve, again relied of a team with 1 win in 22 missing big chances to win.

 

Good result but a patchy performance. Colchester were generally terrible but still managed to create 3 or 4 good chances which we were fortunate they missed. Pleased for scales, hopefully he gets a run of games now. Donaldson MOTM and looked like he hadn't played in months (in a good way).

Still concerned about how we drop off after going ahead. Whether its an inability or an unwillingness to build on leads, its got to change because its been a big problem under T&S and today better teams would've punished us.

 

Next up, Forest Green Rovers (?) boy do we owe them one..

 

Once again AOC took one for the team, playing out of position again.
If he's prepared to accept reduced terms he gets a new contract as far as I am concerned. You need a squad with backup and he's still only 28.

 

Watt has played too many games and Sutton was injured a bit at the start of the season.

Pritchard isn't good enough. The central midfield area just lacked competition. I think McCall though Cooke could play there if required

As much as I think Watt and Sutton deserve a bit of praise I do think its one of our weakest areas. We need better than both.

 

Yes, based on yesterday's performance he is the best replacement for Cooke we have found so far.

 

Both him and Scales should keep their shirt after Saturday, to drop either would send out the wrong message imo.

Just as it was to drop Hornby for one poor performance.

 

Oh come on, it was a point against arguably the best team in the division where we had been given a second half battering. What do you expect them to do, just walk off like we'd been beaten 5 or 6 nil?
