Sunderland played the same type of 11 we played at Colchester last season but at a much higher level . I want to give credit to Chesterfield and say their game plan upset our pattern big style.

Well Ridehalgh is better than Foulds, Chapman will start in place of Osadebe an Angol is good enough to start, either on the wing or up front.

I know at times you can get commentators who won't say anything bad about the home team but unfortunately it did sound we very much under the cosh most of the game, but hey its only a friendly.

As other people have said a change of tactics is required when playing teams like Chesterfield of which there will be many this season. A more direct style of play is required and in recent interviews Hughes has recognised this. We have the players required this should have been the rehearsal.

 

I know it's only a friendly and I care very little for them to be honest. My point was though that it was a strong side. I do agree though that if fit Ridehalgh will start and so will Chapman and Angol probably.

I think we will see a couple more additions before the end of August, probably loanees

 

On the other side of things, it's looking like a Platt and Crichlow combo at the back and it's good they're getting game time together.

We need Chapman on the pitch. We have a lack of players who want to take on and beat a defender.

Just imagine if Chesterfield had had two of their proper strikers available Tshimanga and Rowe, Hughes out !!.

 

You would have to fancy Chesterfield for winning promotion back to the football league this season under Paul Cook

 

Isn't he the lad we made an offer to Barrow for, he or they turned us down he then signed a 2 year deal in January and finished up in none league with Chesterfield when his contract was mutually terminated..

 

I think we were linked with him whilst at Barrow. Not sure whether we went as far as bidding for him though?

 

I like Cook proper manager, they will be there or there about's and still Tshimanga and Rowe to return from injury.

No sign of the lad from Hartlepool Odusina, is he injured ? Supposed to be one of our key signings so hopefully he will strengthen us.
