That's what were hearing from the Chesterfield commentators, every formation/system can be nullified/countered its down to the manager to make changes when he sees its not working.

 

If thats the 11 next week the performance is a bit worrying. From all accounts it been shite.....youd think they would be wanting to get that starting shirt next week.

Hughes will be fuming I reckon. I would certainly be looking to punish a few of the under performers by leaving them out anyway. A clear message.

 

They played well, pressed high and their best players had good games - Banks and Quigley in particular.

We needed to change tactics earlier. Didn't have the same attacking edge of previous matches.

I think Hughes will have learnt a lot.

We went long to counter it Dave . Minutes in legs , but still hate a defeat no matter the game.

 

The lesson to learn is - if it's not working, change it. We didn't change it until half time. Need to learn and adapt quicker. Could have played more long balls for Oliver's head or Harratt to run on to.

Absolutely. Vadaine Oliver does provide us with that outlet to switch our play if it's not working. Given he was on the pitch today it would appear we failed to adjust and use our other strength to counter the opposition.

As we've said, it was a friendly and hopefully a lot has been learnt from this. I expect the performance at least will be much better next Saturday.

 

It was 0 - 0 at half time maybe Sparkie shouldn't have changed things .

not panicking, as the results obviously don’t count, but didn’t expect us to get smoked 3-0 today. Wanted to see a bit more organisation and a fightback

 

Well if there's a silver lining to this.....
It'll dampen some of the hyperbole about us being up by Christmas
You can learn more from defeat than victory. MH has time to work out the failings from today before the serious stuff starts.
