Sunderland lost again yesterday to Accrington Stanley. I hope they enjoy their one season back in the championship because they must be dead certs for relegation now.

 

Exactly my point, why weren't we capable of changing once we saw the original formation wasn't working as you say I listened to the coverage of the game and they certainly could have had more.

 

Based on their squads? Would you have said we would lose 3-0 yesterday based on our squad.? Would you hell, and don’t claim otherwise.!

All this talk of them nullifying us I’m not so sure Broncs, we’ve shown over the years against higher league opposition in far more important matches than this that a lower league club can out play a higher one. I’m sure the likes of Villa, Chelsea and Sunderland were all scratching their heads after we beat them. Sometimes you just hold your hands up and say they were the better 11 on the day, the players need to make sure they don’t replicate such performances when it actually matters. Thankfully that game had as much on it as a park kick about.

 

I'm a firm believer in this. You want your players to get used to a formation, as well as get used to how it cannot work and what teams will do. Changing formation in a friendly is pointless when nothing is at stake as it defeats what you are hoping to achieve. Rest assured in a league game the same wouldn't happen.

 

I hope you are right. Saturdays game will be a reasonable guide. The times “ local derbies “ ended up draws over 60 years , irrespective of league positions of the teams, is pretty amazing I suggest?

 

I remember Stuart doing similar in a pre-season he played a formation he said he would never use again, surely the whole point of pre-season is about fitness and the ability of players to play to a system and if they find it uncomfortable you change it, but hey lets not fall out over a friendly

When players are brought in to do a specific job though it's not all about being familiar with the system employed.Things to be tinkered with for certain. But think we have enough in our management to sort it.
