By my memory, Rankin was Dylan Mottley-Henry fast.

As in, it was a rumour, and I can't remember seeing any blistering pace.

Dylan Connolly showed his pace every single game, and it was lightning at times.

Barrow fans would be justified in feeling robbed of their Football League place as, when they failed to get re-elected in 1972, they finished 3rd from bottom, 8 points above Crewe, whilst Hereford United, the team that replaced them, hadn't even won the Southern League.

Their demise what was probably down to three factors:
    1. Their relatively remote location;
    2. The fact that Hereford had just had that cup run (Ronnie Radford etc.); and
    3. The fact that the dominant team in non--league football at the time, Stafford Rangers, who won the treble that season, did not apply and so the vote wasn't split.
For Barrow it was the perfect storm.

Very true, it was the publicity from Match of the day and the Ronnie Radford moment that got Hereford elected and led to Barrows demise.

There was also a southern bias in the voting. In the 26 years that re-election applied to the 4th division 5 clubs were voted out, all from the north, whilst 4 of the 5 new clubs voted in were from the south.

I disagree. Pace is a fearsome thing to have but there are other ways to win games.

So if you don’t have blinding pace in your team you have a different game plan.

The team that made it to the PO Final last time had some pace Marshall and maybe Meredith but that was it.

    The rest
Doyle; McMahon, McArdle, Knight-Percival, Meredith; Marshall, Vincelot, Cullen; Law; Clarke; Wyke

I don't see much pace anywhere else.

Personally, and you all know my view, this lack of pace is being used as an excuse for McClowns poor management of the tools that he has.

Last time I went it was for Speedway. Literally the "back of beyond". Once off the M6 onto the A590 and it goes on forever.

There is a large slice of irony you quoting the playoff final squad and 'McClown' in the same post. I'll let you guess what it is.

No irony at all if you take the time to investigate.

I have said, multiple times, that Parkinson would have gained automatic promotion with the same squad. One that he was mostly responsible for.

McClown/McCrap/Teflon ultimately won nothing that year (or any year for that matter). No prizes for coming second.

Unless you are some sort of psychic you have no idea at all what Parkinson would have done with that team, your comments are pure conjecture. However, the man you continue to deride to a the point of obsession, by the definition of fact actually did get that team to within a game of promotion. As I've reiterated time and again McCall is open to criticism like any manager, this season being as good as any to question his tinkering.

For this one I'd put Staunton in for BRE, Samuels for Clarke, Evans behind the front two and then it's a toss-up between Sutton and Cooke for Cousin-Dawson's place. Someone above said Clarke and Samuels up front but we need a bit of presence up top and until Novak is back and that just leaves Donaldson. I'd have Evans behind the front 2 because, whilst he's not that creative, he can break through the line and we desperately need that in this team at the moment, with only Hosannah capable otherwise. Personally I think he goes Evans up front, Clarke behind with Samuels on the bench again

Just heard Kenny Black on the radio. They are 3 places below us but we will give them the respect they deserve. They have some good players we need to keep an eye but Stuart is watching clips on his ipad

Dunno. The clubs are taking great precautions this time around and no fans in grounds. So cannot see why the lockdown would stop football continuing.

Travel restrictions will surely be put in place for non essential travel?. League 2 football, or any football for that matter, is not essential
