Sounds to me like Zeli will be our right wing back at the start of the season. Very worrying that we have let 3 right backs go, and still not brought one in, apart from Sutton who has played there but of course suspended for first 4 games

 

And Stuart also confirms, as if we didn't know, that there'll be no set formation or personnel. So just as before we'll be reacting to the opposition rather than playing our own game. And playing lots of different systems. He just never learns.

I really hate this about McCall - not so much the reacting to other teams but the needless complications. Can't help feeling he's trying to be too clever for his own good with basic players at his disposal.

 

If his previous tenures are anything to go by we’ll play 4-4-2 most of the season, with an occasional 3-5-2. I suspect the latter until we get a proper right back.

 

Or you could just send them out with no instruction at all like Bowyer did.

 

Ismail at rwb with Sutton as backup makes sense especially if were going down the 3-5-2 route. I still think to make that work we need a better cb, a hard tackling midfielder and a pacey striker.
Our business this window hasn't been good enough and i do think the "better" players are all pretty much signed up now.
Although twitter isn't always the most reliable source of information you can get an idea of players we might be in for but it's been very quiet for weeks now. Our name isnt mentioned in any of the rumours.

I worry about ismael at rwb though, he's not defensively minded one bit. I remember a certain Andy Haworth once coming to us with a good reputation, however he couldn't defend for toffee. Let's hope we get this lad in from Leicester on loan ASAP.

 

I would take either or both, but worry that we will suffer the same problem as last time we had them. Both have really good positional play, but both became frustrated when they were making runs and creating space but we had no one with the vision to find them. Unfortunately I fear that would be the case this season, unless Cooke or Watt is that man

 

Surely Cooke would be the player for this attacking creativity.

 

Mitch Clark has played most of his career at left back.

I've no idea why you are all speculating who is gonna play RB/WB, when we all really know it's going to be Anthony O'connor. 442 with players playing out of position. My guess would be:

Maybe Ismael instead of Dylan, but I think Stuart worries about his fitness and will bring him on as an impact player. Same goes for Clarke, who probably gets brought on for Guthrie or Novak.

I actually struggled to think of a better team, such is the dire state of our squad.

 

What makes you think AOC? He’s not played there in pre season yet I don’t think?

Watt and Cooke in the middle i dont see working effectively.
