As a number 2 this is shi&e

However, Hopkin wants specialist people around him but for me he needs people around him that knows the game better than him because he's tactically clueless.

Hopkin's comments in the T&A doesn't specify number two, Parker does.

If he's number two, surely it's because the title was needed to attract him to Bradford.

If he's number two, also, presumably Hopkin assumes he can (alongside others) coach the team to a very competitive level. He alludes to the fact he and Drury are doing everything at the moment; if McElhone compliments the pair of them, two more football-focused coaches, then great.

It's clear we had a massive, gaping hole in terms of fitness coaching, so again, to bring in the best possible fitness coach is excellent. Maybe Drury will have equal say during games; maybe McElhone is an expert himself. Who knows.

Tough one to analyse.

Hope we bring in a goalkeeping coach soon, though, as that's a specialist area and to be honest, another coach wouldn't go amiss either.

 

We already have a "performance coach" so I suspect McElhone is here to add to that rather than replace who we have. He's worked at a high level with fitness and reconditioning so he's got plenty of pedigree and experience.

As number 2 I'm not so sure, he may be qualified (UEFA A licence) but he hasn't got any experience of coaching so not sure how he's an upgrade on either Abbott or Drury.

 

Have I missed these? Is this recent or quotes from before?

 

I love the comments here. I can't imagine any of you have heard of him before yet you're all experts on his strengths and weaknesses!

 

This is a guy who has worked with the best, at the very highest level for over a decade endureing that the players perform and develop to the very best of their ability. What’s to moan about? On paper he looks an unbelievable addition for a league 1 side.

 

This is a guy with a lot of experience.

You were all moaning that you want Hopkin to make decisions on his own staff and his own players. Well now he's decided! So stop moaning and let's see how he gets on.

Good luck to him, we need something different whether back room or on the pitch, so fingers crossed his obvious experience will help for the battle ahead.

 

Interesting addition to the coaching team. Plenty of experience working at a top club in Spurs.

Still cannot quite work out whether he will be classed as assistant coach or not, given all his previous work on science and fitness, although I do note that he has his coaching badge.

I presume this is Hopkin's choice, as it should be. It looks to me like Drury is probably staying on the coaching staff, although he was not Hopkin's choice, I wonder if Drury has impressed him enough to want him to retain him?

The appointment also indicates to me that Rupp is still 100% behind Hopkin, and despite the horrendous run under him, he is here to stay
