If we were creating chances and he was missing them you may have a point but when we create zero chances for him your post is rubbish

Oliver will find use at some point, probably when Cook drops off the boil. Hughes isn't daft and neither is Hodges. They'll have done their homework on him and Cook and seen the pattern throughout Cooks career and know at some point they'll need another physical forward when they got Oliver. Cooks career is one of a bursts goal scorer, but managers before give him those extra few games to find form before dropping him whereas Hughes is a known tinkerman and wont give a forward that many starts if he's failing in the league. I did a run down of his last few seasons, noting how many games he scored goals in, rather than the tally itself, they always paint a similar picture....

21/22 - He scored in 2 of 9 games before end of Sept. Then 3 scoring games out of 5 appearances before end of Oct. Scored in 3 of his 6 in January. Then scored in 2 of his last 18.

20/21 - He started at Mansfield he scored in 2 of his first 6. Then just 1 in his final 14 games. Joins City and scored in 3 of his first 7 appearances and finished with another 3 goal scoring games in his final 14 appearances.

19/20 - No goals in his first six at Mansfield then scored in 4 of his next 9 apps. Got 2 scoring games in his next 8 appearances then got injured before Covid ended that season.

18/19 - At Walsall, scores in 3 of his first 7 appearances. No goals in his next 7. Follows with 2 scoring games in his next 8 starts. Scores in 4 of his next 7 appearances. Doesn't score in his next 8 appearances and finishes the season with 2 scoring games in his last 6 outings.

Its a very similar run down throughout his career of patchy form. Fingers crossed this is a different season.

 

We keep hearing this yet Cook keeps putting those chances away, as @JonButterfield that wasn't an easy chance yesterday but he made it look like it was, thought Oliver did well when he came on, if Harratt had stuck his one on one chance away we would not have had to endure that last 10 minutes or so.

Don't worry, Fordy tried to explain to me weeks ago about why he'd release him at the end of the season even if he hits 20+ this term.

Bizarre isn't even the word.

 

He's a very good goalscorer and also does his fair share of chasing and harrying defenders. But, for a big bloke, he's not a good target man. He's quite often outjumped by his marker when he has his back to goal, unlike when he's attacking the ball to score. And the ball often doesn't stick when played to him on the deck. He doesn't link play particularly well either.
But tbh, who cares? If he keeps banging them in like he currently is then he's a shoo-in to start every league game.

 

He'll be firing on all cylinders soon enough now WAGMI are scouting YouTubers to sign up.

Yeah I get it Kevin but such was the disillusionment with Rupp that many fans were more than happy to gamble on the "funny money" scheme so clearly, the safer route for us, didn't appear to everyone to be the correct one.

 

I think Andy Cook has well and truly earned a new contract extension offer.

I hope they don't leave it too late and p**s him off to looking elsewhere.

Despite what Fordy would have us believe, I think he would do a job for us even if we are playing in league 1 next season

Congratulations to Mr Cook,proved many wrong including me but I've enjoyed my humble pie, awaiting the next slice.

 

Rumour going round that Erling Haaland wears Andy Cook pyjamas to bed.

 

He's scored 12 goals in14 appearances this season.

If you want to use stats let's at least not just cherry pick the ones you'd like to use to try and make your point.
