100% agree Rod. The budget is not the issue, it's the total dross that Adams picked up and the injuries that have caused the issues. We do need a big clear out and I would do the following

GK - Keep Hornby as backup, release ROD and sign a new first choice (not Bass)
RB - Keep FCD and Hendrie, pick up another who can also play anywhere across the back. Find a way to bin off Threlkeld
LB - Staunton, Foulds & Ridehalgh
CB - Keep Paudie, bin off Kelleher, sign at least one other specialist CH
CM - Keep Songo'o for cover, Keep Sutton, Keep Cooke. Sign two of which one is a real leader. Bin off Watt
RW/LW - Keep Vernham, try to sign Walker, and another winger, bin off Daly, Eisa, Evans, and anyone else I might have missed
CF - Keep Cook as back up only, possibly keep Lavaory as back up (there is a player in there). Bin off Robinson, Elliott, Delfounso & (sadly due to injury) Angol. Sign two new strikers, one of which is a target man and the other a poacher,

BY my reckoning that means we get rid of 11 players and need to sign 9 leaving us with a squad of 22. Sign players that can play in Hughes style rather than 4231. Easier said than done.

I haven't even included Lord Luton in the above, as he doesn't actually exist. He's a hologram.

So did Mark Trueman and he was as horrendous as the rest that game.

I'm not buying into this Gillead renaissance (is it even that considering he's never actually done it in the first place) until he's performed even at an acceptable level for a prolonged spell.

The problem is that the statement sounds like an echo we seem to hear every July.

No 1 fault line for me USG. Paudie is a liability, and will only get slower and worse. So back up maybe, but first choice in the back two is asking for more of the same. Non of that includes his temperament which adds to the issue.

To be fair to Paudie, he is only 24, so talk of him getting slower, seems to be a little premature. Arguably his understanding of the game and decision making, should improve, if the peak of a footballers career is somewhere between 27-31 years of age. He has now appeared for City on over 100 occasions.

I am pretty familiar with his record Rod , so the No 1 question on my lips would be why hasn’t he improved this season? Honestly he’s gone backwards, which could be because of his lousy partners , however that says to me he should have stepped up. I can’t honestly see how he has, irrespective of his age? Funny how we see things differently but his 3 attempted passes in our box which landed at the feet of one of their players in the 90 mins last Saturday has me seriously worried about his lack of progress.

We currently have a squad of 29 players (l haven’t included Hornby given that he is at Colchester). Yes 29!! https://www.bradfordcityafc.com/onthepitch/first-team-player-profiles/
That includes players who have come through the academy like Cousin-Dawson, Staunton and Scales. Even taking them out, that is still 26. I would reduce the final number to 25. Two full teams and a further defender/midfielder and a fifth striker.

The only players I'd keep are Ridehalgh, Foulds and Hendrie, and even then I'd look for upgrades. I'd also keep Walker if he'd stay. It's not just the fact that they've repeatedly shown they've no stomach for the fight, they've also been part of a side with a losing mentality, some for more than a season. We really do need to get rid of as many as we can, contracts permitting.

Agree totally Dubois. Foulds and Hendrie and possibly Ridehalgh too are the best of what we've got along with for me, Sutton and Watt. But I would get rid of them all. They're ok - but we need far better than ok. I would go for a TOTAL clear out. Day One, start again.

I think Mark Hughes probably rates Alex Gilliead and he was also talking up Gareth Evans in today's T&A so I suppose we right off Mark Hughes straight away.

I've no idea what your post is supposed to mean?

Either Gillead is a world beater and we've all got terrible judgement or Mark Hughes is a terrible manager?

It's a bit of a knee jerk response don't you think considering the team was more than likely picked by Trueman or at least very much influenced by Truemans last team selection.

Unless of course Hughes knew that Gillead had only played left wing back once before in his whole career but decided, without seeing him play that he'd found his specialist position.

    Probably not though.

Don't mistake disagreement for misunderstanding. You've articulated your contradiction quite well once again.
