The more and more I think about it, what dross was he left with. Shocking recruitment. Least he gets a cleanish plate to deal with next season

 

Problem is though that currently he's probably in the top 3 players we currently have at the club.

That's a big old overhaul.

 

We need a mass overhaul. Given Hughes pedigree, there can surely be no further 'debate' over whether we have a capable manager. All focus needs to be on the backing he's given. He needs to be supported fully, and its about bloody time that Rupp invested in growing this club. Hopefully that's forthcoming.

 

The problem is that the statement sounds like an echo we seem to hear every July.

 

We can't bench him as we have no alternatives other than perhaps Elliott, not sure how long he is out for though?

Definitely need much better coming in this summer that's for sure

 

Time to bench him and bring who in ?, even late in the game Hughes kept Cook on with Laverty along side him.

The two headers I can remember one was way off target and the other brought an outstanding save from Bishop, I'd be more worried who we play along side him, Jonesy said it all in his post match comments saying when Cook did win headers Robinson was not anticipating any flick on, I thought he won his fair share of headers regarding the way we played, far easier as defender to win those high balls than a target man (because that was how he was used yesterday) to either flick it on to a team mate or to control it and lay it off.
When Nahki played along side Hanson it wasn't because Hanson's flick on's always went to Nahki, when the ball was won he was anticipating and backing himself to outpace the defender, unfortunately we ain't got a Nahki in the side.

 

Lets be honest they are not contracted for a reason, I'd suggest those two positions are possibly the most difficult to fill with regards non contracted players, although someone mentioned Andre Wisdom was training with Birmingham, if you never ask you never know.

 

I get all that and I have said in the past I'll pay what the club deemed to be the cost of a season ticket but not only the cost to fans alone Rupp has got to show when required he'll go that little bit extra.
That particular instance with Cook and the Mansfield defender the referee must have been the only person in the ground who thought the headlock was not a foul on Cook, although overall I thought Mr Kitchen had a reasonable game trying to give advantage when possible.

 

Dave, a real statement of intent from Rupp would be to say in black and white - we are putting up season ticket prices to raise money for the club and equally I am personally pledging an extra £2-3M on wages and transfers to the cause to get us up next season.

 

If we have any ambition, next season's budget MUST be the highest in Lg 2 not amongst the best six or seven.

 

Said similar myself in another thread, no body was claiming he was overweight at the beginning of the season when he was scoring regularly.

 

You clearly weren't at the Orient and Exeter games then if you didn't hear any chants aimed at Adams

 

He must have had his i pods in

 

Mark Hughes needs to be given all of this season and next to right the wrongs. 23/24 should be the season we expect promotion.

 

I'm sure Hughes' contact list will be just as good as Nigel Clough's. He managed to bring in Longstaff, and I expect us to bring in similar quality next season, even if half the team is loan players.

 

We need to stop with the bullshite Adams said though of not getting loans in at the start of the season. That was bollocks.

We need quality loans in at the start of the season that we know will improve the team.

 

Alas....We strive to be mediocre!

League Two goalscorers aren't all-action midfielders.

Do you remember how little effort Eoin Doyle used to put in? He wouldn't even jump for headers from throw ins, and was roundly mocked by City fans before we shipped him out.

If you're wanting Andy Cook to do anything but score goals, you're going to be disappointed no matter who plays up front. A bit like those ROD haters who have been disappointed no matter who's played in goal.

 

Totally disagree. Cook has had his fair share of injuries this term (groin op December?) which can’t have helped his fitness, it would be madness to let him go. We should be trying to find a decent strike partner who can shoulder some goal scoring responsibility. The rest of the strike force should go not cook who has a great goal scoring track record
