Cant believe how much traction this rumour actually ended up getting.
Think Cook just needs consistency, hopefully with an upgraded quality of supply he will find it. Only scored in 10 of his 39 league appearances, but seemingly scores in bursts which isnt going to keep him in the side i feel under Hughes.

His league goal dates last season (he got injured early november).... Aug 17th, Aug 21st, Oct 2nd, Oct 16th, Oct 30th, Jan 1st, Jan 25th, Jan 29th, Mar 12th, April 30th.

Even in his short spell in charge, Hughes did a lot of chop n change and has always been a tinker type in his career. This season we actually have strength in depth, so hopefully players are kept on their toes. I dunno if a guy who goes 2 in 3 then 5 or 6 scoreless starts will be given those 5 or 6 starts.

I can’t see him starting over a (FIT) Angol, but I can certainly see him coming on for 15-20 min cameos against tiring defenders , or switching to a 442 with Angol going off and Harratt and Cook coming on?

I think Angol will play plenty of times from the left aswell as through the middle and we all know he'll need plenty of rests so all 3 will be rotated for plenty of starts between them.

Why do they always seem to sign Terry Bly's whereas we always seem to sign Terry Bell's

    I'll get my coat

Are the spells where he (Cook) did score goals last season linked to periods where our more creative players were also fit and playing?
As has been mentioned previously, Cook looked a more potent threat when Angol was fit and playing.
With a better level of consistent service combined with him having an injury free season and I could see Cook bagging 20+ for us.

Was it Sutton away were he ran the full length of the pitch?? Looked nippy then. Injuries can really effect you especially if your in a very poor team...without another striker as support

Time to ban posters on here who share these silly schoolboys twitter rumours.

I'm sure we can all go on twitter ourselves if we want to read their made-up attention seeking nonsense.

I’m surprised Cook got as many as he did last season with Adams feeding him scraps up front, this next season will be totally different I can see him at nearly 20 with some quality support.

I’m sure I’m not the only one on here who doesn’t do Twitter. But nowt wrong with people posting Twitter nonsense in the rumours thread. Some of the crap might be blindingly obvious but some of it is actually good for a laugh.

I remember Avenue scoring over 100 league goals in a season and NOT getting promoted. Kevin Hector got 44 goals and Jim Fryatt 29 if memory serves me right (Bobby Ham got his fair share as well).

Yep 1965/66 season although they scored 102 they let in 92 and could only finish 11th in league division four,
not the best season for us as we had to go cap in hand to seek re-election, dark days.

Was their manager an advocate of the Terry Dolan Theory - you score four, we'll score five ?

    Depends how much he plays.

He was an outcast at the end of the season, Angol very much preferred.

If he's largely waiting for Angol to get injured, I think he'll play (because Angol WILL get injured), but it will limit his output.
