Andy Cook is not going to Barrow, but Barrow's club shop opens on Friday

Very Droll. We actually went to Bakewell in 2020, does that count as North Midlands or is it North West Midlands > Very nice place though, made even better by being there during Richies "Eat Out To Help Out" scheme.

 

Is that why we have just signed 31 year old Smallwood? We need experience as well as youth and a trimmed Cook could be quite dangerous still at this level and whilst helping the young guys too.

 

Good move for all involved if it happens, be it Barrow or elsewhere. I like Cook but he’s no lone striker in a 4231 or 433 if that’s the way we’ll be going. He needs a partner as he lacks pace, mobility and a quality first touch. We should always be open to and looking to improve on every player after the last few years and I imagine he’s on a decent wage, we need to recruit to a plan not how many games someone’s played or that they got 18 goals a few year ago.

 

I wont lose any sleep on him staying or going, but a trimmed cook with good support, in a winning team, could easily smash 20 goals next season.

What's this trimmed stuff I keep hearing? He was never overweight, it's.one of those wierd myths that folk keeping peddling. Nobody ever mentioned his weight when he was scoring. As for the Smallwood comparison........

 

If you couldn’t see his beer belly you need to have your eyes tested. He’s come back much leaner probably due to strict orders from Hughes who’s probably never seen such an out of shape player like that in all his time.

 

Also a lot of people over reacting to people's comments, where is the disrespect? I don't see it.

 

Cook is a decent striker at this level. As I said I would be happy for him to stay. If however the opportunity has arisen for him to move on, possibly for a fee and we have a player of similar if not better quality lined up then I’d be happy with that also.

Wasn’t it rumoured Cook is on a fair amount per week with us?

 

A bit dramatic the messi comments! Weve got a proven player , works hard, with a solid l2 record, Cook was Injured a lot of last season but still got one in three goals. Basically at this level he can do a job and he will weigh in with his fair share of goals.

But yeah they arent messi, we arent Barca either!

 

We might need better to get promoted. Goals could be an issue again.

Exactly. I don't particularly rate the lad but all this talk of beer bellies and the like for a player who at worst will be a couple of pounds overweight.
